Hi Friends

I received an email from MGH stating that it is ' allowed'; to mix and match ( booster) Moderna with Pfizer or vice versa. (NOT the J & J though)

I had poor results with MODERNA and would like to ' start over'; by getting my booster with PFIZER.

Has anyojne had a 'mix and match' and if so, what were the side effects ?Mnay Thanks for any replies or PMs!
Laurie

    Hi Purple,

What do you mean by 'poor result'?

purple - Has your LE improved? I was able to get my second dose of Moderna without triggering a rash like the first one. I don't know if I need another dose or booster.

Thanks Serenity for directing me to Purple's problems. In re-reading, it appears you don't actually want to start the whole Covid series over, right? You are just inquiring about getting the third shot with Pfizer rather than Moderna, correct?

Your email from MGH is correct that the third shot can be either Moderna or Pfizer. However, I would caution you to really think hard about getting a third shot and I am one who encourages all folks to be vaccinated unless they have a severe medical reason not to. Just in my personal opinion, from reading what you wrote, I think you qualify as having a severe medical reason not to be vaccinated a third time.

Have you asked your oncologist for his/her opinion? That is where I would start.

    Be well,

    Jane

I got a notification yesterday that based on age and time since my last shot, I am eligible to sign up for my booster at CVS where I got my two shots of Moderna in the Spring. I was pleased to see that for those who received MRNA - CVS explicitly states that you can mix and match and I signed up for Pfizer as my booster. I had minimal side effects from both Moderna shots and I hope for the same from the Pfizer.
