Hello,

I actually had 2 masses in my left breast. I had them both BX, they did a lumpectomy on one of them and said they wasnt worried about the other. told me when they did the lumpectomy that it was a high risk lump and was a 4b. This was done in March this year. So now I have been having tenderness and sore spots in my same breast with some pain under my arm. Sometimes I have sharp shooting pain in my breast as well. I just wonder would a MRI help any with my monitoring? Because its time for my next dx mammo and us and just wondering if I should request a MRI?

Depending on your treatment and your insurance you can always ask. If the doctor does not push for it you may end up having to push for it yourself or you may end up paying a lot for it. Where I go due to history my MO orders the 3D mamo on my non cancer side and then they also do an ulatrsound as well. They actually read them and tell me when I am there so I know before I leave how I am doing. Best wishes to you.

Can you provide any more information on your diagnosis? You said your tumor was 4b - Are you saying you were diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer? That is metastatic which means you would have evidence of breast cancer outside of your breasts. Also, did your MO want a repeat mammogram 6 months post-op? Your description of pain sounds like normal healing to me. Have you consulted your surgeon or MO with this?
