Was afraid to even post because my appointment isn't until next Tuesday and I'm trying not to let my mind go off to the dark place but I'm scared. I mentioned I noticed thickening back at the end of June during a routine visit with my oncologist. She said my breast felt healthy but I was concerned about the thickening so she sent me for a mammogram and ultra sound, Both came back normal. However last week while examining my breast myself I was reminded of the thickening so I googled it and I'm reading that its a sign of breast cancer. Ive scheduled an appointment to be checked out but can anyone provide any hope to get me through this week before being seen. Any chance its nothing? Trying not to let my anxiety get the best of me. I keep telling myself I've been here before and survived. But I'm still scared.

Lumpectomy scars can continue to change for quite a while. My surgery was April 2019, shortly after yours, and it continues to change. It is scary when things don't feel like we expect, but the vast majority of those changes are really normal.

So I get your concern but I think you might get through the week more easily if you remember you just had scans and they saw nothing of concern, even for follow-up. And try to find other things to do and think about in the meantime.

    MountainMia,

Thank you for responding, I wasn’t sure if breast tissue continued to change a couple years out so that’s reassuring to know. I told myself that’s it’s probably just that but wasn’t sure if it was just wishful thinking, Good to know it could be normal

I've had two exams since my lumpectomy that led to off-schedule imaging, and both times it was scar tissue and gravity causing odd sensations, both interior and exterior. But it's always smart to get anything checked!
