New blog on topics of cancer, exercise, running, nutrition, etc
I started a blog on anything and everything to do with cancer, exercise, health and nutrtion. It’s focus is on running back to health after cancer, but expands into other areas. Running has given me my life back after cancer and I want to share that with the world. I hope you enjoy it and find inspiration. I plan to write many articles. I have so much to share. I’m just getting started.

Hi Lorreymom,

My Marathon is on the same day as the Run for the Cure, so I am hoping to encoroprate a fundraiser component to it later on. Here is the first post in the series...

Hi There LorreyMom! Love your blog. I'm also a runner and a health nut, if you will. Do you mind my asking if you take/took Tamoxifen? I'm due to start next month but can't stomach the thought of taking it.

I took tamoxifen for a year. I started with exemestane for the first year, but my oncologist wasn’t convinced I was in menopause (I was 47 then), so he put me on tamoxifen. I am sorry to say that I hated it. My running stats plummeted. My muscles took twice as long to recover and I couldn’t run as far or as fast. I trained in a group to run a half marathon. I was going backwards, when all my running buddies were improving. I ran my half marathon and started cramping at the 10 km marker. I could barely walk across the finish line. I asked my oncologist about it. I asked a breast cancer researcher I knew about it. No one knew why. Since, there has been some research, but not a lot. I asked to go back on exemestane. I have been on that medication for 2 years now. I ran a personal best half marathon this past fall. I ran 3 hilly half marathons in two weeks last summer. No muscle cramps. I am currently doing a literature search to see if there is any new science on this. I am going to write an article on my blog about it very soon. I have heard others have experienced similar things. I have also known people who have had no side effects to tamoxifen. I hope you are one of those people.
