I am monitored by ultrasound for bilateral nodularity - “complex cysts/solid appearing masses” all less that 1 cm. From Jan 2021 - July 2021 imaging I had some additional spots up but all similar and consistent. The radiologist was very reassuring and confident that it was benign. So I don’t worry and I didn’t schedule a follow up with my breast specialist (I was not directed to but I’m pretty anxious about this so I always do anyway). However last week I felt a lump. I have not previously felt lumps. I went in yesterday for an ultrasound and radiologist came in and said no change from July. Just a complex cyst. Follow with my normal 6 month intervals. However that afternoon I saw my specialist. She feels biopsy is necessary only bc it’s a new spot from July that she had not previously felt and thinks it could be a a papilloma. Fine so I’m pooping my pants from my nerves and get scheduled for core needle on Monday. Well my breast surgeon just called - apparently the radiologist performing the biopsy called her office to recommend a biopsy in a second area as well. I’m not entirely sure what prompted it bc they definitely only measured one spot yesterday. So I assume she reviewed all of my films. I literally weak in the knees. I am so made at myself that I didn’t follow up immediately in July. And what if I didn’t see the surgeon after yesterday?! I’m confused and I’m annoyed with the radiologists. And freaking oit

There is a chance they may want to take it out after further examination since some of them can be cancer and I'm sure the breast surgeon wants to make sure you are getting the treatment you need. The majority of them are benign.

I know that may not calm you but if you are not sure you can get a second opinion if you want one as well from someone else in your insurance covers. You need to be able to trust your medical team.

    Best wishes to you.
