Thyroid and Mediastinal Lymph Node
I had to have a CTA to look at the veins to see if I had an issue due to issues I am having. However, they notated the following.
There is a 10 mm low-density nodule within the mid to upper pole of the right thyroid lobe. A subcentimeter nodules located in the lower pole of the right lobe. A borderline prominent anterior mediastinal lymph node is unchanged compared to the study of 8/6/2020.
We keep an eye out on the lymph node as it popped up out of nowhere on a scan about 1.5 years ago. However, nodules the in the thyroid have never been noted on any of my scans.
Is this common after cancer treatments or do I have to worry about metastases?

Thyroid nodules are very common and often found only when another procedure is ordered. Monitoring is the usual follow up. As my endocrinologist said to me when I told him my breast cancer dx. Take care and anything that your thyroid presents can be managed or treated. After years of monitoring, I finally had a thyroidectomy only to be the 5% with my presentation to be benign. Have an endocrinologist monitor and put it out of your mind.

TB90,
Thank you for responding! I get a bit worried when anything new pops up. I did schedule an appointment and will see them Thursday. Fingers crossed for good news

FYI: my endocrinologist thinks my immune response to chemo triggered Hashimoto's disease (autoimmune thyroiditis). Have your thyroid and antibody levels checked.

ARmom4,
I go for blood work on Monday. The Endo did say that the way the thyroid looks on the ultrasound looks like many she has seen that had autoimmune issue as. Just a wait and see. -
TB90,
luckily, the Endo agreed with the radiologist on the areas he saw. She did see an area that the radiologist did not mention that she wanted someone to take a second look at. She is running levels on my thyroid and cortisol levels due to some other issues I am having so I should know something next week on those. She did say that the different variants in the color in the ultrasound makes her think of autoimmune issues as most thyroids due not have so many striations of color? Thanks for checking in
