Pound this morning, Dance2fit tonight. I'm sitting out in my yard doing paperwork while Bruno and Ivy, the neighbor dog, play and hang out.
-
Hi Everyone! Just a quick check-in. Good to read everyone's posts. Will write more next time.
Today dh and I met my sisters to attend the Vincent van Gogh Immersion Experience in Charlotte. Just breathtaking!
Walked/ran when we came home.
-
Wow, Wonderland!
-
A long hike with dogs 🐕 🐕🐕🐕
-
Up and down the step ladder to change curtains.
-
I went to PiYo & hiked yesterday. I'm watering the yard, flowers etc right now and plan to go to Barre Sculpt, maybe some dog walking this evening.
-
I love everyone's pictures.
I have my Livestrong assessment today, so I'm excited for that! Well -- nervous, too. I'm scared I'll suck at everything. I'm scared I'll be the weakest one in the program and will just feel pathetic. Part of me just wants to be like, "This is too hard, I'm running away!" before it even starts. But I'll make myself go. I'm trying to remember to just be grateful and that I really need to do this whether I enjoy it or not.
My kiddo came back from a weekend away with his dad with a cold, so he's home sick today. Wheee! That said, I'm super-glad my DH works from home, so when I have my assessment, my little guy won't be home sick, alone.
-
Finished changing the curtains, did a load of laundry and prepped dinner. Going to the Halloween decorations down and hung u
-
Let us know how the assessment goes, Saltmarsh. It doesn't matter where you start; it matters THAT you start, and the results will be very, very satisfying!
I went to a fun Pound class (my favorite teacher was subbing) and am now doing the dreaded cleaning the house thing.
-
Did the Livestrong assessment. RHR was 78 and after the warmup was 98. Much to my surprise, when they tested my lower body strength, the upper range of my squat presses was 250 lbs. Which is basically my weigh plus my son's and since I still pick him up and hug him from time to time, I guess that makes sense. I just never would have guessed I could do that much without thinking about it in context.
There will be six of us in the class - 5 women and 1 guy, and the guy is my neighbor (who's had esophageal cancer), so I'm looking forward to meeting the other women. I'm glad I didn't write this off and I'm happy to have a plan and some accountability built in!
-
Great! 👏👏
ShIft & LIft this morning, dog walking later.
-
Lots of steps today
The picture is from going over a bridge to get to the park where the WWW ladies walked this morning. My neighbor and I took our dogs for a hike just now, but I plan on Zumba tonight. Loving our unseasonably warm weather!
-
It's been pretty quiet here. Hope everyone is okay, just busy!
I did a Pilates DVD this morning & will go to Dance2fit tonight.
-
Yoga this morning. I will be out of town for a few days but will check in occasionally.
-
My kid caught a cold, and then I caught his cold. my husband has walked the dog the last two mornings, allowing me to catch up on rest, and it's been ah-maaaaaaaaaazing.
-
I am off for a 6 mile run in a bit. Finishing up some work as I am paying for my sojourn to Coeur d'Alene. Plus my long term client's daughter is back in the hospital post surgery so I got a small project from her yesterday.
My big news is that I am planning on moving to Coeur d'Alene early in the New Year. Glorious scenery plus amazing cycling and skiing. I will be able to trade up in apartment. Will have a garage, which means garage shelves to store my gear. I am very excited. I will also have AC plus easy access to swimming beaches.
If I didn't have commitments through the end of the year, I would head there tomorrow. So to burn off the energy, a run is in order. Plus some quality time with my vacuum cleaner.
I had planned on cycling into the mountains today but it was chilly and foggy this morning. More later. Feel better Saltmarsh. Colds are the pits. We have forgotten these things with all the Covid panic, but dragging is dragging. More later. - Claire
-
Thanks Claire! Coeur d'Alene looks beautiful, and like the perfect spot for a woman as active as you are!
-
Wow Claire, big move. You seem so settled in Redmond and doctors in Seattle and all your known watering holes and vineyards...what a big new adventure to find the best there is in a new place, good for you!
-
I am a bit too settled in Redmond. Having spent a few days in Coeur d'Alene, I can say that finding new watering holes will not be a problem. Can still help out at the vineyard. I will keep my oncologist, and will welcome having a new PCP. Dentist and Rexxie doctor will take a bit of looking, but I am not worried about either.
I will need a new car insurance carrier as PEMCO operates only in Washington State. I will wait until I move for recommendations. I will be timing things so that I won't need to pay twice to register my car.
Cycling trails will be amazing and so is the skiing with cycling trails being used for Nordic skiing in the winter. Spokane is nearby whenever I want some city. Same driving time as Seattle from here.
This is the time to make the move. I can continue to do my consulting work remotely. I am well funded to do everything the right way including hiring movers. I will have time to enjoy the things I love doing. I can't wait to ski at Lookout Pass.
Anyway, I am very excited. As a point of information, Coeur d'Alene is a lot closer to Seattle than to Boise and in the same distribution chain. Southern Idaho is in the Portland OR-Salt Lake City area. So while remote in some ways, it's not that far. And much, much less expensive and did I mention, just spotlessly clean. - Claire
-
Claire, such exciting news for you. It will be a wonderful move and should provide a very rich life giving you new opportunities for adventure and learning. Nothing like a move to keep the brain sharp. Idaho is now one of the top states recommended for retirement. I look forward to hearing about your new skiing and bike riding experiences. So happy for you.
-
Claire - the move sounds wonderful. I, too, look forward to hearing about the exciting things you will be doing in Coeur d'Alene.
-
saltmarsh, hope you feel better soon.
Wonderland, I missed Van Gogh Immersion at the start of the pandemic here last year. They extended it but I was not about to take the risk before getting vaccinated. Ruth your Bruno pics are like Van Gogh paintings
Claire, great combo of change of scenery at a lower cost. You will have lots of fun!
I am trying to do 10 minutes of weights everyday. For the most part I don't meet the guidelines for weekly resistance training. Not sure this does the trick but better than nothing,
Lilacblue, great to hear from you. You sound very busy. Hope brexit bottlenecks are manageable
-
Hi Everyone! Reading through all the posts. This thread has been very quiet but I feel like all of us are being active and just not stopping by to talk. Hoping everybody is fine and no one is ill.
edj: Where are you? How is your wrist?
Karen: How was your visit with everyone home?
I've been doing my usual walking/running. Right now I'm in Hilton Head, SC for the week with my sisters and sil. We had covid tests prior to coming here - all negative. Lots of beach walking, bike riding, and swimming will be happening.
I've also painted my Halloween/Autumn pumpkins. Here are a few:
Scarry Night!
-
I wish your pumpkins could be shipped through the mail, Wonderland. I'd order one from you! I know you will have fun on the beach!
We just got back from a wonderful cruise up the Hudson River. We had booked it two years ago (pre-Covid). It was a small boat, sailing at 75% capacity (75 passengers), everyone had to be vaccinated and pass a rapid Covid test before we left, we all wore masks for indoor activities, tours etc. so we felt we were as safe as possible. We did some wonderful tours, ate too much delicious food, and met some very nice people. Tomorrow it's back to my normal routine.....which better include being on a diet!
Here I am hiking in the Catskills.
-
Sounds like a very fun time, Ruth! I haven't been doing all that much other than set up for the final push prior to exiting the nonprofit at the end of December. I also have an interesting market research project starting up. So I shall be very busy indeed!
Lots of time thinking about my new place and planning my move to Coeur d'Alene.
I did discover last week that I can still organize people so that we get all the essentials done which we did.
Envy you the cruise up the Hudson River. It is just spectacular. I haven't done the cruise, but I have taken the train to Albany many times, and it's equally pretty in winter. I used to go to Plattsburgh when my parents lived a few miles from Canada so I got to see Lake Champlain as well.
Quite autumnal here with temps in the high 30s.
Did you get to see Cold Spring? I just love that river town. I used to combine a hike at Constitution Marsh a few miles away with a visit and a stop at a local watering hole. So fun. Buildings from the early 19th Century. Spectacular views of the river and West Point.
Wist me luck for the week ahead. Looks like the rain may have stopped. - Claire
-
Good luck with everything, Claire. A busy time!
We did a quick day in NYC, had stops in Sleepy Hallow to see the Washington Irving stuff, went to Hyde Park, hiked in the Catskills, did a tour of Albany which included stops at The New York State Museum and The Albany Institute of History & Art, did a walking Architectural Tour of Troy, and visited West Point.....so we covered lots of ground in a week. If you want a picture of anything, let me know because I have it. Here's one of Lady Liberty and I will find one from West Point for Claire. I went to Pound this morning.
-
View of the Hudson from West Point
-
You can't quite see Storm King Mountain under that cloud. Cold Spring is just across the river. Constitution Marsh is just to the right of the picture frame.
Glued to grindstone More later. - Claire
-
It is a beautiful part of the country! If you want a picture of Cruise Life or of the knock-your-socks-off food. I have those those too!
I went to Pound & took a fun dog walk this morning. DS & GF are fostering a little Humane Society puppy until he has all his shots or gets adopted. We said we'd watch him while they were at work during the day, so that adds some extra excitement to the house. Someone has put in an adoption application in and they will meet later this week. I am glad because I'm afraid we might get ideas about a second dog if he was around too long!
-
Took a very naughty dog for a walk and went to Barre Sculpt.
