9 years NED and now an incidental finding

Hi all,

I never thought I'd be back on these forums, but here I am. Had a benign thymoma removed two weeks ago, and a lymph node was removed along with the tumor (the lymph node was encapsulated with the tumor). Node came up positive for breast cancer. Interestingly, it's not a mammary lymph node, so technically it's a metastases. Just had chest, abdomen and pelvic ct with contrast, and a bone scan. Had a chest ct with contrast three weeks ago, in advance of this surgery, and that study saw nothing. This node was less than 1 cm so wouldn't show up on ct. As you can imagine, I am freaking out. Will be seeing my oncologist next week to go over scans. Scared as sh*t.

    I am sorry and I do understand how overwhelming this is. It is fantastic that they have found nothing else. Please do a search on ogliometastic breast cancer. Ogliometastic disease has better survival statistics. The fact that this was surgically removed is also a good thing. Keep us posted on what treatment your oncologist recommends and hang in there.

    9 yrs too...hang in there Susie! Hope it was just some slow growing dormant shit that they got all of it. Have you been on Arimidex this whole time? I swear my salivary stone is not a salivary stone and this crap is always lurking. Kick it back in the corner where it can sleep for another 30 yrs. God bless and prayers.

    No, stopped the arimidex after 5 years (and 1 year of tamoxifen). I am indeed hoping it was a small slow growing thing that somehow got missed. Always wondered how they know that they got all of the breast tissue when they do the mx!

    Well, we'll see what the new scans say, but I'm holding onto the fact that this was near the original tumor site, and was very small, and was removed. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for the support!
