Hi! My mom was just diagnosed with adenoid cystic solid basaloid breast cancer. The doctors seem at odds with treatment. One saying chemo needed one saying just radiation. Waiting on appointment for 2nd opinion. I can't find much info. It was grade 2, 2.4cm no node involvement. Any help insight would be appreciated!!

Did you find more information? I was just diagnosed and will be seeing a medical and radiation oncologist.

My pathology shows that my tumor shows adenoid cystic like areas. I will be having Next Generation Sequencing done to help classify my tumor. My tumor is low/intermediate grade carcinoma and is not typical of a Triple Negative cancer.

I also have Lynch Syndrome. My dad's brother and sister had breast cancer. I'm not sure what type of breast cancer they had but they were in Lynch Syndrome research studies so I'm hoping I'll be able to find out. They and my dad have passed away.

I've found information on cancer.net, adenoid cystic carcinoma research foundation, adenoid cystic carcinoma organization international, GARD, Dana Fiber, John Hopkins, MD Anderson.

    Hi Cancerlotterywinner!

They are the exact words one dr told my mom! My mom just had radiation after removal of lump. We did have pathology sent to Memorial Sloan Kettering for 2nd opinion. After consulting with 2 drs, both agreed only radiation needed.

    Best of luck to you.

Thank you. At this point, I'll need 4 weeks of radiation. My medical oncologist is taking my case to the tumor board because he wants to make sure it is ACC. If it's not then I'll need chemo too. I'll email him next week to follow up on the tumor board meeting.
