(((((((macdebbie)))))) We're all here for you. Try to do nice things for yourself today to distract, and take care of yourself. And please keep us posted how it goes.

    You've got this!

Good luck tomorrow, macdebbie. I wish you the very best outcome from surgery and an easy recovery. Hugs.

If you're having a lumpectomy, you might be surprised how easy it is to get through. I felt fine afterwards, just a little sore from the Iron Maidenform bra I had to wear for 48 hours. But I felt good enough to go to lunch with friends (pre-Covid) while I still had it on. I highly recommend zip-up athletic bras with firm cup inserts for a couple weeks. I had hardly any bruising or swelling because I wore them 24/7.

Alicebastable, can you give me more specifics about the bras? I ordered @10 online (I don't want to go to a store because SC has the highest rate of COVID in the country right now. None of them fit right! So I'll have to make do with what I have. Hopefully it's enough.

But if you can give me info I can look online and see if I can order for next day delivery. I don't know what cup inserts are or what Iron Madienform is. I tried several Maidenform bras and none of them had enough coverage or support.

Macdebbie, I myself was surprised at how smoothly things went. They spend so much time inserting clips and wires that the actual time under anesthesia is very short, and the incision is very small, because they've already figured out where to go. I can't speak to your case, but I had two lesions in different areas, and I think I was under for an hour and a bit.

I thanked the surgeon later and told him that I had envisioned all sorts of terrible worst-case Frankenstein-like scar in my mind, and he said “I'm sorry to disappoint you…” :-)

People seem to agree that the relief at having the lesion gone makes it all seem worthwhile.

We're all different, but that was my experience. I hope it can help you, and that you have a speedy surgery leading to a quick recovery, and negative margins! Take some time to look after yourself, even if the recovery is not so bad. You've had a stressful time.

Oh, and if you're having wire insertion and it hurts, ask for more lidocaine or whatever it is. Just let them know.
