I had a BMX on Aug.24. I am feeling overall..pretty good and eternally grateful for a successful op. I had an immediate reconstruction with Mentor high profile implants- 600 cc's. I was a 36C going in and came out a small B. My stomach looks bigger than my boobs. Again..I'm grateful for clean margins and immediate recon but the size is unexpected. Is there a possibility that implants could drop and fluff a whole size???? I'd focus on making my stomach smaller lol but at 45 after a hysterectomy…easier said than done.

Second question..does fat grafting successfully hide the rippling???

I just want reasonable expectations:-)

The implants will settle some and look more defined, but no, they will not become larger, and projection will remain as it is now. Fat grafting usually works beautifully to hide defects and rippling. I had two rounds

About 40% of women (myself included)go on to exchange/revise their recon. If you remain unsatisfied, there is no shame in pursuing implants that better suit you. No need to “settle” if better is possible. Doing so doesn’t make you any less grateful for a good oncological outcome!

VegGal- thank you:-) I think it was easier to keep a positive attitude when I kept telling myself that I’d come out the other side of this even better than I went in. It was like…look at the silver lining!!I had this fantasy that in exchange for cancer..maybe they’d suck the fat from my massive backside and give me pin-up worthy boobs😂😅 it has just been a series of reality checks and managing expectations. None of which diminish how thankful I am for my life. Thanks so much for saying that it’s okay to be a little sad about the loss of my boobs while still being grateful for the removal of the cancer. I feel guilty at times expecting anything

I hear you!!! I feel the same. I had in my mind what my new "boobs" would look like. They don't look like that. I am kinda sad about it too. Not only do they not look like I wanted them to, they're not that comfortable either! It made me realize they're not all they're cracked up to be. On the other hand, I had delayed reconstruction so I know what it's like to be flat with a belly and I hated that so I guess the implants aren't so bad.

Some people love their new boobs. Some people don't. Everyone's experience is different and no one should ever feel bad about that!
