Bras
I am 5 days post BMX and reconstruction with implants. I can’t find a bra that works. I got two from the hospital. One is too tight..the other too loose. I think part of my discomfort is the band rubbing on my drain sites. Any recommendations??

No bras are particularly comfortable 5 days out. You might go with the looser one and pad the drain sites with some gauze pads for comfort.
Many of us have had good luck with Fruit of the Loom front opening cotton stretch sport bras. They come in a pack of 3. They run small in my experience. In any case, maybe run the whole subject by your PS's office.
Good luck.

thanks VegGal! I ordered some of the bras you mentioned. Happy that they’re actually pretty inexpensive! I guess everything is uncomfortable at this point;-) I’m impatient to get back to normal. Appreciate your response

Hope you are more comfortable soon! Love your kitty photo. I have a tuxedo boy myself.

I've always hated bras but after surgery I found the Elizabeth Pink Surgical Bra to be very comfortable and effective. It's expensive but I was happy enough with it that I ended up buying two. You can get them with and without drain holders.

I bought some via Amazon after I had my mastectomy and DIEP flap reconstruction . They are from Fruit of the Loom and open in the front, a type of "sports" bra. I just recently bought 3 more, this time they had a foam insert that could be put inside to give support. I don't use the insert, but kept them in case I change my mind.
They are super soft and even though I have large "breasts", they give me all the support I need. I think a three-pack was $26.

thanks VegGal! She is a sweet rescue that we brought in last November. We have a tuxedo too! I think you were right when you said nothing is particularly comfortable at this stage. I put 10 bras in my Amazon prime cart to try on. Maybe one of those will do the trick;-

thanks Maverick! I added one of those to my Amazon wardrobe order to try on. They sound soft and comfy. I hope they work. Thanks for the recommendation!

I have been a fan of Coobie bras, but would caution that they do not open and close, I stepped in and pulled up. They are very stretchy so I had no problem doing that. They are also a bit one size fits all, but found that to also not be a problem. There are usually coupons available to reduce the cost. They are actually carried at the mastectomy shop I went to and I could fit a prosthetic in the one side when I was absent an implant for a period of time. I find them supportive enough without being too tight and continue to wear them long after surgery - they also come in a bunch of colors.

I'm getting really really frustrated with bras. I can't find anything comfortable. Before I had my double mastectomy I wore freya and fantasie bras (34e) I always got fitted at my local bra boutique and I was comfortable in underwires
I had had tissue expanders in since Aug of 2020. I just got them exchanged for implants on August 26th 2021. It was a bit long but covid took up our operating rooms and delayed surgeries.
The whole time with the expanders I felt like I was wearing an iron bra. I was so uncomfortable my arms hurt and I have partially frozen shoulders. I haven't been able to get into physio like I normally would be able to.
My surgeon wanted me to wear a "sports bra" post op then an underwire 24/7 for 3 months when I'm able. The problem is fitted sports bras don't fit me. I don't even wear sports bras ...ever! I've been fitted for 2 wire free bras that were fine until I washed then and now I can't stand them. I also was fitted for an underwire bra that was also fine until I washed it. Both the latter were anita Rosa faia and are not cheap. I'm taking them back. I have no issues spending the money on the right bras. Right now I'm 34ddd (34E) I've probably tried on 50+ bras in the shop. These women have known me 20+ years and every time I think I have something comfortable then it's not
Is it as simple as buying a 12$ cheap sports bra? Am I trying to wear an underwire too soon? When I tried to wear the underwire the first day I got it, it was great but the day after when it was washed I tore it off because it felt like I had that darn iron bra on again and it's been 24hrs and I still feel like I'm wearing it!!
The ps said I need the underwire to create the crease under my breast.
I'm also afraid of what happened with the expanders, they were so hard they were jamming my arms all the time making them hurt and putting my shoulders out of whack.
This is so much harder and more painful than I expected
I'm seeing my ps on Wednesday
