De Novo Stage IV

Woodlands - I'd question any decision that says you need to just deal with pain. If they can get rid of the source of the pain, they should.
NCYogi - hope you're continuing to feel better.
KBL - are the new meds helping?
Re: tumor markers. Mine seem to be sensitive and we're using them as part of the monitoring plan. I guess we'll find out, for sure, how sensitive they are when I have progression. Hopefully, that will be way down the road....

Hi, SeeQ. I am still on the same meds. I added Pantoprazole to see if it would help me eat more. I do feel I’ve been able to eat just a bit more, but I’m at my vacation home and don’t have a scale here. My daughter let us take our grandson to the country for a few days. I am totally exhausted and not sleeping great, seems I never sleep through, no matter what I do, but I’ve had some great quality time with my grandson that I wouldn’t trade for any amount of health. He is the most awesome toddler and happy 99% of the time. Thank you for asking.
I hope everyone is doing well.
-
KBL - it was the pantoprazole I was thinking of - couldn't remember the name. I hope it's helping you eat enough. How fun to have your grandson in the country with you! That kind of time is irreplaceable.
-
SeeQ, thank you. It is helping somewhat. I feel like I get hungry more often. I just still can't eat a really good amount in one sitting, so I do a little more often. I am staying pretty steady on my weight right now, which is about three to four pounds down in one month. I'm trying not to lose anymore than that.
Grandbabies are the bomb. So fun. I'm so grateful he came into my life at such a sucky time.

I have edited and taken off this post.
-
KBL: This is so awesome re your daughter. I can honestly say that the Food Network is not on my radar but will make an exception on 8/25. I'm glad to hear your weight is stabilizing somewhat and hope it continues.
-
Aw, thank you, Tinkerbell.
Note: Edited post.
-
KBL, what a wonderful and well deserved proud mama moment! I've been a bit put off by the Food Network because so many of their shows are contests. I may be one of the least competitive people in the world so I can't understand why everything has to be a contest. I will try to watch your daughters episode. I can record it.
-
KBL, well done to your daughter, and she is a firefighter, awesome 👏👏👏👏 I can imagine how proud you are. the food network Wednesday is on I watch those shows near thanksgiving to get some ideas. I am glad you enjoyed your time with your little VIP❤️
-
exbrnxgirl, I hear you. I don’t usually watch TV at all. Big exception Wednesday.
Thank you, Snow-Drop. She’s married to a firefighter as well. She’s always made me a proud momma. Boy, I already miss my VIP.

Woodlands - You might want a second opinion. While surgery might not do anything for the cancer if it is MBC, it might make you feel better if it is causing pain and stress. Would it come back? A couple of times when I've asked why this and not that the answer has varied everywhere from "standard of care" to "imaging (PET) could increase risk from radiation" to "insurance would probably not pay for it". Also, DRs do have different opinions on treatments.

I want to write here because my anger has gotten the better of me, and I posted in Steam Room for Anger. If you all can’t see past being okay with me and my decisions, I understand if you no longer wish to post here.
I am human, and my heart hurts fo this whole situation, but I can no longer be silent. Please know I love you all no matter what.
-
KBL: I don't usually peruse nor post on Steam Room for Anger. However I am on this thread because of our common de novo. What is said on other threads doesn't impact me what so ever, meaning I wouldn't stop posting here regardless of difference of opinions. We can agree to disagree and still like one another. I care about you as well as everyone else here.
Regarding your daughter it looks like the episode is 9pm ET. I can't wait....
-
Me too, me too, to Tinkerbells post. I only care about the common ground we all share. I try to “take what I need and leave the rest” in any given situation. Breast cancer support is no different.
Hugs to you KBL, take care of yourself
-
Thank you, Tinkerbell and Olma. I love this group and your understanding. That’s all I’m looking for. You both made me smile.
Hugs to both of you.
Yes, I’m so excited to watch tonight at 9. Thank you, Tinkerbell.
-
KBL,
I sincerely hope you understand that while we vehemently disagree on the vaccine issue, when it comes to our commonality, de novo mbc, I bear no grudge or animosity. Take care
-
I totally agree, exbrnxgirl. Thank you for coming here and posting that. I have no ill will or animosity toward anyone. I appreciate you posting. You take care as well.
-
No spoiler alert here.. KBL you have a beautiful daughter. So glad to see a picture of your grandson. Such a cutey. After watching the show it got me so hungry but ready for bed time…
-
Thank you, Tinkerbell. It was so sweet of you to watch. She is my world, as well as my husband and grandson. I have to say she learned to cook after she left my house. She did not learn that skill from me. I suck at it. Hahaha.
-
KBL,
We all have our gifts! No shame there
-
KBL - we're good. I'm disappointed the STEAM ROOM became Covid Central; it seems there should/could be another thread for that discussion - and...we'll leave it at that.
-
SeeQ, I had said something along that line pages back, and the mods had even come in and asked it not be discussed there, but it wasn't stopped. I agree with you. Thank you so much.
exbrnxgirl, very true. I think it’s my taste buds that make me a bad cook. Pepper is too hot for me. Lol. -
CT tomorrow. I sure would like it if it showed my cancer, but I don’t hold out hope. Wish me luck. It’s at 1:00, so at least I’ll get to have my coffee.
-
Good luck KBL! Hoping for helpful results for you
-
Thank you so much, Olma
-
In your pocket KBL, good luck!
-
Thank you so much, Mae.
-
In your pocket, KBL.
-
Good luck on your scan tomorrow, KBL. Hoping it's a good result and nothing gets delayed or derailed or anything else that could happen when we go do these things.
-
KBL: Good luck tomorrow.
Will add good luck to anyone else that needs it this week for scans.
