Worried about forgetting words.

I had weekly CMF for 5 months, and 17 surgeries with general anesthesia as part of reconstruction. ( A mess, read my posts for the details if interested) So lots of brain insults.

I had severe “ chemo brain”. Really scrambled cognitively for a year or so. Had trouble reading, finding words. Would do impulsive things when I would drive. Probably should not have been driving, to tell the truth, but I had to take my kids to school/soccer practice/grocery shopping, ect. That was 2013. I was 46 - 47.

Now am nearly 56. My brain recovered enough after a couple of years so that I was able to go back to a demanding, highly technical job in Healthcare.

I remember what it was like being unable to recall common words in my chemo brain worst moments. I would be speaking fluidly, then draw a blank over the word I wanted to say.

For the past three or so months I feel like that same word loss issue has been happening again. Not all the time. More noticeable if I am tired. I am older. Friends just tell me it’s a normal part of aging. This scares me. I would go see a Neurologist, but am afraid of confirmation of my fears.

It would be different if there were any effective treatment for dementia. I know there are drug treatments, but being in healthcare, know too much how ineffective they are.
