Waiting on Biopsy Results

Hi everyone, I've been reading through these posts like crazy and feel very thankful to have found a community of women who have gone through similar (and tough) experiences.

I'm 25 years old, BRCA2 positive and have a family history of breast cancer on both sides. I got my first mammogram a few weeks ago after finding a lump in my left breast. The lump ended up being nothing (just breast tissue that peaked in that area), but the radiologist found a group of coarse heterogeneous microcalcifications spanning 6mm in my left breast and classified it as BIRADS 4B. I had no other areas of concern.

I just had a stereotactic biopsy yesterday and am feeling really sore and overwhelmed today. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Given my family history, BRCA mutation, and young age… I'm really beginning to worry.

birads 4b still offers a strong chance that whatever they see is benign. The biopsy will confirm one way or another. The waiting is the hardest part and the whole process is terrifying. Hopefully you will get the results quickly and they will be benign.

    Good luck.

Sending support Alg! Keep Melbo's stats in mind.... I hope you fall in the large benign category! Do what you can to stay occupied with positive things during the waiting. Ice, ice, ice to help soreness. That made a difference for me in a short period of time (e.g., first 24 hours....)... Icing today and even tomorrow will still help if soreness remains... Please let us know when you hear something.
