10+ years post Stage III - Bad ultrasound and losing my shit
Just like it says in the subject line.
Hello! Used to be an active member here, and got back to living life cancer free for a decade.
Just had routine mammo and U/S and to my surprise, though mammo was normal, have a mass under my arm on my mastectomy side. Biopsy next week. BI-RADS 4. Anyone want to talk me down, because I'm totally freaking out rn.

Did you get a Covid shot on that side? Some people have had swollen nodes for several weeks.
-
Covid shot was on the other side. I had really swollen nodes on both sides after 2nd Pfizer vaccine, so my oncologist wanted to wait for 3 months for scans. 2nd vax was on 4/6, so as much as I'd like to think that's what it is, seems doubtful.

hi blue cowgirl,
i’m going through a scare too. had my petct scan last week, a bunch of axillary nodes, pelvic, parotid, subcarinal - all nodes mildly lit up. Doctors are saying it could be vaccine related even if my 2nd dose was done 5 weeks prior. I’ll have to go wait 3 months to do a follow up petscan to be sure . Praying yours and mine are vaccine related.
-
Francesca, hoping so hard yours is vaccine related too! I had a GIANT swollen and tender lymph node in my groin a few weeks ago that was ultrasounded at Urgent Care that was "abnormal" and just got follow-up ultrasound today that showed it was significantly smaller and normal in appearance. I have no idea if that was from the vaccine, but suspect so, as it really threw my whole body out of whack for a while. Really hoping the same for you!
The doctor who read my ultrasound recommended biopsy followed up by PET. Did you have any biopsies? -
@bluecowgirl , they want me to wait til october to re scan
no biopsies for now, hence the anxiety and stress
p.s.
i’m glad that node in your groin turned out to be normal.
-
Francesca, I'm so sorry you have to wait that long! Ugh.
And thanks, I'm relieved about the groin too.
Here's hoping we both just have post-vax inflammation. -
Hello Bluecowgirl. I remember you from the boards years ago. It really does sound like post vaccine inflammation to me. It’s probably just lingering inflammation in your mastectomy side armpit because this area was compromised years ago. I believe this because you had the swollen lymph node side effect in both arm pits and also your groin.
