I havediagnosis with stage IV to hip and T 10. Had two hour bone biopsy that included ablation. Not sure if that treated tumor or was for pain. Also dr had to send my path report to get read on her 2 to another cancer center. I’ve had two breast cancers before I was diagnosed with metastatic. They were her 2. My last cancer was resistant to herceptin. What is metastatic treatment if her2? Is there a chemo pill or is it IV?

First line of treatment for HER2+ MBC is usually Herceptin, Perjeta and a taxane chemo for four to six months. Somewhat similar to first line for early stage, except the H&P continues for as long as it works.

It's all via IV - but, if you're in the USA there is now PHESGO which is an injectable form of Herceptin and Perjeta. If your doctor and insurance approve, that's an option. Chemo would still be IV but once you finish it, you would just come in for the PHESGO shot.

After H&P fails or if your doctor thinks it's better in your particular case - you would get Kadcyla (TDM-1) which is also an infusion drug.

Youre welcome - also, I don’t know much about ablation but I think it “can be” a treatment for bone mets -don’t be afraid to ask the doctor if treatment was the intent, as well as getting the biopsy sample.
