My mother was diagnosed with stage 3C ILC in 1998. She had 13 positive nodes and her tumour was 7 cm. She opted for a bilateral mastectomy and no reconstruction. She will turn 81 next month. No recurrences, local or distant.

My mother in law was diagnosed with ER/PR positive breast cancer in the mid eighties. She had a unilateral mastectomy, chemo and tookTamoxifen for five years . No reoccurrence almost 40 years later. I'm hoping I do as well as she has.

I was diagnosed with ILC in 2010, aged 48. The cancer was classed as stage 2 at that time. I had a lumpectomy, chemo, radiation and still take hormone therapy daily.

I attribute my survival to the skills of my doctors, treatments and the grace of God.

I am well today with no ongoing related issues. I still see my surgeon and oncologist yearly as well as having annual mammograms and ultrasounds.
