Intense PMS after stopping hormonal therapy?

Options

I was wondering if anyone else had severe PMS after going off hormonal therapy. I stopped toremifene (similar to tamoxifen) about three weeks ago due to the serious depression and fatigue it was causing, and I'm dealing with my first PMS and period since stopping. I can't believe how intense the symptoms are....Severe irritability and anger, migraines and nausea so bad that they wake me up at night and I'm doubled over throwing up. Normally, I do have emotional symptoms as well as headache and nausea, but not this bad. I've literally blown up at multiple people due to the emotional symptoms I'm having.

I have a call in to my oncologist's office to set an appointment with her about this. I was just wondering if anyone else went through this or have any theories about why the heck this is happening. I thought I would be feeling better by now.

((Hugs)) orangeflower!!! This sounds like an awful situation. For me, any change in hormones has packed an emotional wallop. Ten days before my period; first trimester of pregnancy; third trimester of pregnancy; post-partum; and of course, hormonal therapy. When I started ovulation suppression (Zoladex) and an aromatase inhibitor (Aromasin), I felt very moody, like I was PMSsed. Since then, I've been on Celexa, which has done the trick. After six years, I have yet to stop OS + AI but I'm hoping that won't be too bad.

Thanks Elaine. I'm going to make an appointment with the psychiatrist to see if anything can be done. I might have to wait this out until my system normalizes.
