Hello!

Biopsy in 3 days. (after a 2 week wait, it can't come quickly enough) My report says:

Group of calcifications of interest in the right breast is relatively tiny, however some are heterogeneous with slight linear configuration and therefore DCIS is on the differential. A couple are punctate/round and therefore benign etiology is also a possibility. Bi-Rads 4. I know this could turn out ok, but can't help feeling anxious. My mom had breast cancer.

In addition to the biopsy worries, I suddenly remembered seeing a small lump on the inside of my very upper arm a few months ago. At the time, we were on a trip and sadly, I did not follow up when we got home. Yes, I am kicking myseIf for actually forgetting about it until the biopsy on the micro calcifications was recommended.

I called and was seen by a nurse practitioner in my doctor's office yesterday. She squeezed around on the lump (painful). She thinks it is a cyst. My arm has been hurting ever since I left her office yesterday. The pain is about a 2 in my upper arm area, but a 7 in my forearm. I plan to point out the lump to the radiologist when I go in for my stereotactic biopsy. This lump is located on the inside of my upper arm, about an inch out from armpit.

Several years ago my sister had a lump on her neck and was told by 2 docs it was a cyst. If not for her gynecologist encouraging her to seek another opinion, her adenoid cystic carcinoma would have gone untreated much longer than it did. Thus, I am skeptical of the nurse practitioner saying mine is just a cyst.

I am really hoping the radiologist will override the nurse practitioner and do an ultrasound on this lump. It would give me peace of mind if an ultrasound could confirm it is a cyst. My mind keeps going to the worse case - the breast biopsy will show cancer and this lump is cancerous. I am trying to keep busy, but getting pretty anxious.

Good idea to speak with the radiologist too.... not sure what they will say or recommend though worth getting their take. I don't know that they will ultrasound that? though if not you can take info back to your PCP's office for follow-up if need be. If the radiologist is concerned ask them to document that so there is also a record vs. just your verbal report. I think both are important. I hope all turns out well for you! Please let us know how things go....

Thank you, LivinLife, for replying. Definitely will show lump to radiologist. Good idea to ask for documentation. Dreading the biopsy, hope it’s not too uncomfortable. Praying for good results.
