Bilateral sclerotic lesions on iliac bones 😬

Options

After 9 years was hoping I’d never need to be back on here but sclerotic lesions were unexpectedly found on a CT scan for something else & general surgeon suggested I might want to get a bone scan because of BC history. The original doctor who ordered the test didn’t even tell me about it, just said all was good & then I saw report from the general surgeon! Unbelievable! I contacted my oncologist with report & she set up bone scan for next week plus CT scan of chest & pelvic area. I have mixed emotions. Thankful for GS & onc for reporting & acting quickly. Mad at other doc who refused to tell me about report (I just happened to read it on MyChart!), & worried this could be bone mets after all this time. Sigh

I've had this kind of thing happen too often myself.(not with BC though)... so unfortunate!!! Glad you have the info now and are working with your onc now! Glad your testing was set up timely too! Please let us know how all this goes....

I've had to have CT scans 2 or 3 times a year for the last three years for something besides breast cancer. The reports ALWAYS leave out something (or several things), and they always include things that sound ominous but turn out not to be. Several times now those scans have led to additional imaging and even biopsies that were ultimately a big nothing.

Thanks LivinLife. I will update once I know something. Scans on Thursday but my old onc just retired so they couldn’t get me in with new one for 2 1/2 weeks. I hope they’ll go ahead & give me test results though.

Alice, hoping & praying this is all a big nothing too! Appreciate the encouragement.

I have had schlerotic lesions turn up on CT scans and then had bone scan but they were determined to be osteoarthritis.

Here's hoping yours are something benign.

I hope it turns out to be no big deal, it looks like maybe it is one of those things they wouldn't even think twice about if you had not had cancer. Hopefully the scans will turn out to just give you peace of mind that it isn't mets. Of course, to get to that end you have to deal with days of worry and anxiety. Hugs
