Lupron vs. Zoladex: Are there any differences?

Has anyone tried both of them? Is there any difference in side effects? I'm currently on Zoladex and have been doing well on it but it's too expensive and Lupron might be more affordable but I would like to hear experiences for those of you who have had both.

    I’ve had both. Currently on Zoladex since the nationwide shortage of Lupron happened several months ago.

    I’ll be real honest with you.. Lupron shot was easier/ less painful. But, I have less hot flashes on Zoladex. When I go in each month for my injection, I always ask for an ice pack. It definitely helps. While the Lupron shot is given in the back hip, the Zoladex is in the stomach.. parallel to your belly button.

    I need to just bite the bullet and have a hysterectomy so I can give up the shots but I’m just not interested in another surgery at this point.

    Given the choice, I would stick with Zoladex. The shot is a bitch, but that’s temporary.. those damn hot flashes last all month.

    Thanks for the reply. A hysterectomy was also recommended to me but I am kind of in the same boat not being up for another surgery.

    Why not simply an oophorectomy done laparoscopically?

    I think that is probably a good option for most people but I have some other health issues that would make the surgery more extensive for me.
