3d Mammo, bi-rads 0 for asymetry?
hi all,
I'm almost 49 and have gone through the call-back/biopsy once before with benign results. This time, i did wait 2 yeas for my annual check-up because of Covid and had a 3d Mamo last week. I feel 2 new lumps, but i have VERY lumpy, dense breasts. Apparently the place i went wasn't capable of dealing with lumps, just the 3d mammogram.
The results came back saying aysmetries were found in both breasts and i should get more 3d Mammogram views and if indicated US as well. This confuses the heck out of me! It says 'report views previous mammograms' but doesn't say 'growing asymetry' and doesn't make reference to the lumps (i was hoping were cysts) or the micro-chip already in there or the other things in they wrote in previous reports. It's practically empty. Just 'asymetry in left breast anterior center area' 'asymetry later side right breast, mid region'
The torture is that they can't seem me for 10 more days! Agh.

Hi Arielmc! I hear your frustration and worry! If I remember correctly my callbacks were generally a week after the regular mammogram. In my area they only do callbacks on Wednesdays so it depends on when you had your initial mammogram and how full their next Wednesday schedule is. I'm not sure how typical a week to 10 days is though I imagine a week is fairly common. The waiting is so very difficult and you're waiting again now.... Unfortunately it is par for the course for evaluating and further evaluating breast issues. I hope you have good support at home or near you. We are here too! I know I've read on here several times asymmetry can often be due to breast placement between the plates, etc. I hope that is true in your case or something like cysts, etc. The BIRADS 0 is because they need more images.... Please keep us posted as you proceed...

I went in today for diagnostic follow-up which took a long long time. In the end they told me i had many cysts and some complex cysts that i should come back to get checked in 6 months. I guess this is good news, but it wasn't quiet as clean as i wanted. i the non-circular w/stuff inside cysts and said asked if MD was concerned but she said the fact that i had many cysts made it less concerning that some were complex. Does that sound right?
i asked if i should insist on an MRI or biopsy and the MD said i should probably ask for an MRI based on my % of lifetime development being 18% (mom Ashkenazi jewish, catholic aunt had BC)
