Bone Mets? "Shadowing Bony Structure"

Options

I had an ultrasound yesterday to check on a fold in my implant. I also had them check a small lump I found below my clavicle. The test results state "Shadowing bony structure is identified on ultrasound without soft tissue mass identified." Now I am freaking out that this is bone mets. Had my 6 week post treatment bloodwork done last week and all my numbers were fine, no swollen lymph nodes. I have had a few night sweats, which I attributed to the tamoxifen. Weight has fluctuated up and down a few pounds over the past month, but no substantial weight loss. Hoping someone else has had a similar experience that did not turn out to be bone mets?

is there anything on the US results that says any sort of follow up needed? I think most of the time if there is a concern the results will say CT scan follow up recommended - or in 3 months or 6 months or it will say metatastic disease cannot be ruled out - follow up imaging recommended . If the results have nothing like that than it’s likely just technical medical speak for random weirdness or a technical term that means something super benign and typical

It did state, “Clinical correlation and clinical follow-up is recommended. If clinically indicated, CT chest may be considered for better evaluation of bony structures.“

okay so I wouldn’t ( though it is hard not to) stress about this , it sounds like they don’t know what it is if it is anything - but since it says a CT scan may be considered - that doesn’t sound concerning. It doesn’t even say should be considered

I"m in agreement with 2019.... it really could be some kind of anomaly that is not anything at all serious.... nothing at all. Of course they want more follow-up to truly determine what it is.... I agree too it would be hard not to worry though it may or may not be anything to worry about.... hang in there as best you can... Hopefully you can get a CT soon since this was just an ultrasound finding vs. waiting 3 or 6 months.... I'd push for that.... Please let us know....

Thanks 2019Whatayear and LivinLife! Trying to remain calm as I wait for a call from my oncologist for next steps.

The lack of solid mass means they are ruling out a lipoma. Instead they can't tell from ultrasound what it actually is, but another modality will be able to do so.

Bone mets dont usually present with a lump, weight loss, or night sweats, so I wouldn't use those as a marker for something right or wrong. I had quite a bit of inflammatory swelling over my sacrum where one met presented as it was right in the joint, but no other inflammation at other met locations.

Try not to worry - with your stats the likelihood is pretty low.

I talked to my oncologist and he is going to order a CT to be on the safe side, but said to not be anxious about the ultrasound findings. So the waiting game begins..

Had CT today, no bone mets but found spot on liver. The worries never end.

“8 mm low-density lesion with tiny soft tissue nodule in the right hepatic lobe. Consider dedicated liver imaging for further characterization.

MRI this afternoon, have been a nervous wreck this past week. Broke down before the scan started. My radiology tech was amazing - calmed me down, showed me the scans and actually called me once the results were in...fatty spot! So relieved. Thanks for the positive thoughts
