Hi all,

I just turned 30 and I have no history of BC in my family. It's been about 10 days since I've discovered a red spot on my left breast, slightly higher on the chest. It doesn't hurt, and now I see some broken capillaries. It doesn't seem to reduce in size. I took an apointment to meet with a doctor but I hoped that I could get some more input through here. It itches once in a while. I don't think its an allergic reaction because it's isolated to only that spot, as well as no sign of a bug bite. Im a new member and I cant put photos yet?!!!Here is a progression of it, from older to more recent :

any input is appreciated. Thank you so much.

Have you made an appointment with a dermatologist? They deal with skin issues, and IF they think it looks serious, they can do a punch biopsy.

Hello and welcome. First let me say, IBC is very rare and it's much more likely that you have a dermatology issue. I'm glad you're seeing a doctor ASAP, but try not to worry. None of us can tell what's going on with your breast, even if we saw the photos we'd just be guessing. I wish the very best outcome for you, so let us know what the doctor finds. Good luck!

I have an apointment with an urgent care doctor tonight so they can take a look. Hopefully they'll be able to steer me in the right direction. I'm just freaking out pretty hard right now, I wish I could just post a pic but since Im a new member I cant... thank you for your reply. I was scared no one would see me !

    batorvia,

New member, old member... No one is allowed to post pics of breasts regardless of how long you have been a member*. Even if you could post pics, I don't think you want folks who have no qualifications evaluating them. Almost all of us have bc but almost none of us are doctors! As others have said, IBC is very rare so a dermatologist or gp should be your first stop. Also, not having a family history of bc is the norm. Only about 15-20% of those tested have a genetic mutation associated with bc. Your breasts are covered with skin and you are far more likely to be experiencing a skin problem rather than IBC. Take care

thank you for your reply. Do you mean the BRCA gene? I had done some genetic testing iin the past and I am not a carrier. Does this make a difference?

I was able to see some other posts where some women posted pictures so I thought I could, too! sorry about that.

There are now over 30 testable genes that can be identified which may pose a risk of breast or other cancers. Even so, that 15-20% figures holds. Genetically linked breast cancers are the exception, not the rule! Members may post pics of many things but not breasts/symptoms. This is because we are not qualified and should not be used to evaluate breast conditions. Trust me, I’m a first grade teacher and my medical opinion is worthless! There are also privacy concerns and maybe a creeper or two who would be looking at breasts for non-medical reasons.

    Hi all,

Had my apointment with an urgent care doctor and they took a look at my "red spot". Touched to feel for masses/swollen nodes under my arm, everything seems ok. She is not sure what caused my red spot but she prescribed me a stronger cortizone cream to apply 2x a day for a week. Follow up with her in a week to see if it has faded at all. But she is not worried for BC. It's more green/yellow than red today, and the broken capillaries have spread a few mm but the older ones seem to be fading a bit. Will give updates in a weeks time.

That sounds good. Thanks for letting us know, and please come back to tell us how you are in a week or so. Hang in there.

If it is changing color, it sounds like an old fashioned hematoma (black and blue) where you must have hit yourself against something.
