Dye injection before DMX
Prior to my DMX surgery 6/1, I have to get an injection of blue dye to the sentinel nodes and a scan. I understand what’s it’s for, my question is the injection painful?
I've seen some say their dye/scan was done while under anesthesia during surgery. Mine is a full 3 hours before surgery.

Hi there- i didn’t find it painful at all. It was just a quick pinch like any other shot for blood draw. local anesthesia, vaccine, etc. Take care!
-
Mine was done a couple of hours before surgery - it's better that way because there is more time for the dye and/or isotopes to travel into the nodes. I did find the injection to be painful, but it's very quick and the pain doesn't linger.
-
I had mine the day before surgery. It hurt, but it's over really fast and the pain eased immediately.
-
I also had mine the day before surgery. I know most say it’s not bad but I slathered my nipple area with EMLA cream so I felt nothing. Yes, I was a wimp!

exbrnxgrl you were one smart Chica, not a wimp at al!
My injection was an hour before surgery. It didn't hurt at all.

good idea!!!! I forgot about emla cream. I used that years ago when I got some laser hair removal and it worked well for that. My over-stressed nerves thank you for reminding me of it!!
-
I had mine just before surgery - only felt a little worse than bee stings.... didn't last long at all....

Rozatx,
Here’s some imagery that might make you laugh. I am a first grade teacher. My dye injection was scheduled for about 45 minutes after school was dismissed. Of course, EMLA needs to be applied in advance so the minute I dismissed my class I ran to the bathroom with a tube of EMLA, a box of plastic wrap, and some masking tape I found in my classroom. I double checked the door lock at least 3x after I entered. Can you imagine what folks might have thought if the saw me slathering a white cream on my nipple area, covering it with plastic wrap and securing it with masking tape? I thought it was pretty funny myself but glad no one walked in!

Ohhhh exbmxgrl....!!! That is toooooo funny!!! And...I thought you were going to add even with all your caution someone walked in on you....lol

I’m glad other people have these experiences, too. When I do stuff like this I think I am out of my mind and wonder why I’m the only person who finds herself in these situations

Got my injection a few hours before surgery. I didn’t think it hurt too much. Just a quick pinch and it was over. I got stung by a bee last week and that hurt more for me!

I had heard that the shots hurt a lot. My sister had experienced it years ago and said she got through it, but it was awful. I am a real needle phobe and pain freak, so I arranged with my surgeon to have it done while I was "under". I was so glad I did. I had no awareness of the procedure at all.

I'm so glad that they did all of that while I was in surgery.
