27 and worried!

I'll just get right into it: I am 27 and have always had large breasts. After a gallbladder removal a few years back and starting college, I gained a lot of weight.

Large breasts plus weight led to me constantly having these sores on the underside of my breasts. Almost like pimples or cysts. I went to a doctor who told me that they were the result of the skin rubbing together and sweat from my bra building up. It made sense, so I moved forwards knowing that these were normal for me and harmless.

However, yesterday I noticed what I thought was another of these cyst/pimples forming, when I saw that an area about the size of my palm was just ever so slightly raised and just a tiny bit red with this white-ish outline around it.

I don't know if it's just the cyst/pimple or if it is something more concerning. It's 1:30 in the morning as I write this and I am 100% calling my doctor in the morning, but this has got my anxiety acting up more than usual.

Have you tried anti-fungal cream? That's what my oncologist told me to use when she spotted a rash on my underboob that I hadn't noticed. Luckily, I had some in the house because I'm prone to heat rashes and other skin-on-skin rashes. The cream is athlete's foot medication and available at any drug store or even places like Dollar General.

I am almost 42, and my body is still finding new ways to get sick/injured that spook me because they are unfamiliar and strange to me.

It's always a good idea to seek expert advice from a doctor who has seen all of this many times before.

Middle of the night anxiety is a beast. But chances are this is just another weird but not serious thing your body is surprising you with, and it won't be the last.

Hope you are feeling better with the morning light.

sgray - Welcome to BC.org! We are sorry that you are experiencing these changes and they are causing you concern. Hope you can see your doctor soon and you find an answer to your symptom, but try not to worry too much. Breasts changes are very common in young women, and it's not always something serious, although it should be checked out anyway. Please, come back to let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the kind words and helpful advice! It helped me at least settle my nerves enough to sleep last night. Calling my doctor now just to be safe 😁

On a different note, you should not have to live with pimples or cysts because of having large breasts. I have very large breasts and have found that having well fitting bras really really matters when we're talking about such large masses. Don't settle for "kinda fits" and find bras that fit great and remove underboob sweat.

It sounds like one of these pimples has turned into an abscess, which is what can happen if the pimple is not properly treated and becomes infected. The same thing could happen with a pimple anywhere on your body. If that's what's happened, this needs to be treated but it isn't something that is or ever will become cancer.
