I had surgery in mid November and radiation started the end of January. My MO was waiting to see if I needed chemo first and luckily I didn't.

My radiology oncologist required that my incisions be fully healed. Chemo was not on the table for me so rads started about a month after surgery. It could have waited but I healed fast enough and they got me in a done before a family reunion trip the month after that.

I had surgery end of April and my radiation started end of June. I had a small infected area and.my radiologist waited for it to heal.

    GiddyupGirl,

Can I ask how they treated your infection? I am on antibiotics to see if it'll clear mine up. As soon as it's clear, I can start radiation. Surgery was 4/12. I was fine until a fever on day 22 post op. BS ordered an u/s for tomorrow to see if it's blood or pus....ugh. Thanks For any info you can share about your experience.

    hi juju

I actually went to the emergency dept cause it was freaking me out. The doctor was great gave me 7 days of clindamycin (strong antibiotic). Rough on the stomach but beat the infection. I also got a topical antibiotic fucidin because there was an area that was red with a little pus. Gross but it cleared up after a couple of weeks. Sorry you’re going through this, having cancer is bad enough without adding more bumps in the road. Hugs and good wishes that things clear up quickly for you. By the way I tried a number of things for my skin with radiation. Miaderm was the best even though a little expensive. Let us know how you are doing
