Any knowledge with TAXOTERE + HERCEPTIN + PETRUDA
Worried about hair not growing back after being on taxotere which would include eyelashes or eyebrows
History - After 4 rounds. Ac + 4 rounds T - no real change so tumor board recommended Weekly cisplatin and radiation 33x before surgery. I had radical modified mastectomy on 4/20. Pathology showed clean margin but 1-5% skin/tissue and 20% lymph nodes ( removed level 1+2 ) . MO is recommending below but need full body PET SCAN too. My hair just started growing back including my eyebrows which I love
HERCEPIN + PETRUDA as antibody drug, but MO is thinking of also adding chemo drug TAXOTERE. for 6-8 treatments for 6 months so every 3 weeks.

Taxotere causes hair loss in around 3 out of every 4 patients, and some women never regrow their hair afterreceiving the drug. Some women regrow only the hair on their scalp, but never regrow their eyebrows or eyelashes.
Anyone with any knowledge % of 100% loss and also eyelashes and especially eyebrows. EBB

hi there EBBA - the permanent hair loss doesn’t happen to everyone but it does happen and they now have to inform us. There are lawsuits still in progress because women were not informed of the risk.
I had the similar drug, Taxol, which is said not to have the same risk of permanent hair loss. Well my head hair came back but I do have just stubs of eyelashes and extremely sparse eyebrows now.
But, my metastatic cancer has been put to sleep so that’s something.
You can try microblading for your brows if you are off chemo.
Best of luck with your treatment

OLMA61. my MO said hair loss but said it would grow back. I googled and it said up to 20% permanent hair loss.Whose responsibility is it to inform us. I had taxol! My eyebrows grew back my eye lashes are stubs. Thanks for the FYI. EBBA

Your MO should inform you about the risk of permanent hair loss with Taxotere if they are going to recommend it for you.
Taxol doesn’t carry the same risk for permanent hair loss

OLMA61 - I love Saturn
I know but he didn’t - I had to find out on google - taxol did not work for me when I was TN-IBC. But pathology changed now after Fish I am HER2 2.1 so positive...but still inflammatory breast cancer.
BS I asked her and she said she didn’t know any cases where hair did not come back, I asked about eyelashes and eyebrows - she did not answer.
Do you think it would work the same? I see you took it with HERCEPTIN + PERJETA.
My cancer was very aggressive and the had to take a skin thigh draft to close up chest.
The tumor board meet 5/14 I also have a whole body PET scan the same day.
Fingers crossed 🙏😇👌 I will keep everyone posted with results and recommendations.EBBA

Yes, Saturn is my fave planet too, as you can see 😁
You can use cold capping during chemo to try to prevent the hair loss, have you heard about that? There is quite a bit of info about it here on the boards. It can cost a lot of money but some people have been able to get their insurance to cover it.
I didn’t do the cold capping but I did use the NatraCare cold slippers to prevent neuropathy in the feet. My cancer center had the cold cap system on site, but it was not an included perk, they did charge extra for it.
Yes, I had the Taxol-Herceptin-Perjeta combo, it gets good results for many HER2+ women, including IBC women. Worked great for me. Hopefully you will get a great response too.
Best of luck with everything, EBBA take care
