Well I've graduated from the benign breast conditions....

I'm 44 years old and just had my second excisional biospy due to an architectural distortion. First one was a radial scar other breast. This time there was an incindental finding of DCIS. It was low grade, er+/pr+ and only 2mm. It had complete clear margins because it was found within the benign tissue. I do have a lot of FEA Flat Epithelial Atypia too. I've been told I should do radiation & hormone therapy. I feel that I might be overtreating. Anyone has any thoughts or experience they would share with me?

Btw how do you put your diagnosis in profile & how do you know the correct lingo to put? :)

Hello LirpaP, for your questions regarding mechanics of inputting your data, I would scroll down the different topics under Help in the column to your left. With regards to what to put in your profile, check out what others with DCIS have input in the DCIS forum. With regards to what you should do moving forward in your treatment, I encourage you to check out this thread under DCIS https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/68/topics/790992?page=3#idx_61 which was compiled by Beesie. Your DCIS is low grade, small with adequate margins - you have time to get second opinions and to thoroughly research what treatments, if any, you need.

Welcome Lirpa! That is fairly standard treatment for DCIS. Gather additional info on percentages of E or P which can impact your decisions, talk with your oncologist, etc. My percentage for these were 2 and 5%, respectively so I chose not to undergo hormone therapy. I also had a mastectomy (actually bilateral) so there really did not seem any benefit for me to do hormone therapy - all the toxicity and likely no benefit which such low percentages.... I agree with Jelson on reading the info Beesie compiled.... Please update us as things unfold.... We're here for ya!
