Hello everyone!

First, you all are a wealth of knowledge and support. I hope you know how appreciated you are. I have followed these boards for years as I have had numerous mammogram callbacks, ultrasounds and just today, my first biopsy.

A little about me. My mother was diagnosed 20 years ago with LCIS. None of her sisters or her mother have had a breast cancer diagnosis. As I inch closer to my mothers age of diagnosis I’ve developed horrible health anxiety. At this years annual mammo, my doctor wanted to do an ultrasound because I have dense breasts. The tech found an area of dense tissue that doesn’t look like the rest of my breast tissue. He said since this is my first ultrasound on this side he wants to do a biopsy to err on the side of caution, which makes me happy yet stressed at the same time. I’m a birads 4 (no letter).

The biopsy was fine, relatively painless and quick. I made the mistake of googling hetergenous hypoechoic breast tissue (which was on the paperwork) and freaked myself out. Won’t be doing that again. Anyway, they told me 5-15 days for results, which feels like a lifetime.

Thank you for listening and being here.

Carrie

Hi Queenie, I'm currently awaiting results as well, had a complete duct excision in lieu of a biopsy on Thursday last week, and waiting for the pathology does feel like a lifetime! I also had similar wording on my report (and was also a 4, no letter) and googling it was terrifying. But my surgeon is confident that my results will be benign, so I'm going with that until I hear otherwise. Well, I'm trying to anyways. :) Here's hoping good results for both of us! Sending good mojo your way.

Welcome Queenie! I'm glad you posted! Hopefully you hear back closer to the 5-7 day mark which is pretty reasonable... The waiting is quite difficult so be kind to yourself and stay as distracted/busy as you can.... We're here..... : )
