Ca 27-29 slightly up, 29

my ca 27-29 went up to 49 ! Which is slightly over Normal , onc ordered a ct scan of chest abdomen pelvis which came back normal . Im supposed to get makers retested again next month . Pretty scared , has anyone else ever had a spike and it went back down? No other symptoms , all other bloodwork normal , 6 years out..Onc still con

    I’ve been told that TM slightly above normal is not significant. My MO would only worry if they were over 100.

    I am already Stage IV and my TM have usually been in normal range or slightly above . They are not accurate or reflective of disease for everyone. My last CA 27-29 was 44 and I was just scanned. No progression and no evidence of active disease detected

    there is another thread for this topic in this section if you are looking for more feedback. It's very good that the scans came back fine. Likely your # will go down when you get it retested. The TM tests seem to all over the place which is probably why they aren't any sort of standard of care.

    Like I'm just spitballing here, but seems like if they would do the CA 27-29 test like right before you start treatment then that could give an indication if you are someone whose cancer status might be reflected in the test, but since it is only done post treatment how do you know if it matters for you or not--plus other stuff can effect the number.

    conditions other than cancer can cause those small rises too. Infection, inflammation, etc.
