I am new to this forum so I hope I am following protocol. I was diagnosed Feb 8 and had my lumpectomy last week. All went well and the margins are clear. I just talked to my doctor and he indicated the tumor was 1.8 cm as opposed to 1 cm and they found a 2mm one in my lymph nodes. He did say he was not concerned and I would need to do radiation for sure which I was planning on doing with a lumpectomy. I still need to wait a few weeks for the Oncotype test to determine if I would benefit from Chemo. I guess my question is should I be concerned they found some cancer in my lymph nodes? Thanks!

I don't see any purpose served in being concerned. All you can do is have radiation and maybe chemo, and 5 years of tamoxifen or AI's since it was ER-positive. Hope your feeling good as your recovery from the lumpectomy :-)

Welcome sallaire! The answer is in the question.... you do have concern about that. I'm hoping you can gather some fact-based info on how treatment options can help lower your risks, pros and cons of these, etc. Your onc will be a main source though others on this site provide related great info.... I'm not one who has that kind of knowledge however.... I wish you well! Please keep us posted on new developments.....any other questions you have, etc.....

I had a micromet in my sentinel node and just had radiation, no chemo, based on my Oncotype score of 17. I'm not sure what the cut-off size is on node involvement, so maybe someone else will chime in on that.

Thanks! I am feeling well, just really tired. I usually have a lot of energy but this whole process is draining as I am sure everyone knows. I appreciate all the feedback. I am going to hang on tight and hope for the best :)
