Could I have some fat necrosis post mastectomy?

I'm just over two years post a nipple sparing BMX, with no lymph node involvement or radiation. Last week I found a pretty solid feeling lump on the non cancer side. The problem is it's sitting at 12 o'clock just above the nipple, nowhere near my scar line. There is also a dimple next to the lump which becomes more prominent when i lean forward. I even tried the flashlight test which showed a dark area in the location of the lump.

Luckily I have my previously scheduled check up with my BS and MO tomorrow, so it's going to get checked out. I'm just trying to keep myself from going off the ledge in the mean time and trying to convince myself this is probably some fat necrosis. So my question is, does fat necrosis usually occur around the scar tissue post surgery, or can it appear literally anywhere within the breast area?

Thanks.

2 years seems like a long time to me and on the non-cancer side....... Hopefully others who have more knowledge about these things will chime in before long... I'm so glad you have appointments with your BS and MO tomorrow... that's good timing, esp. when you're understandably worried. Please let us know what you find out... Meanwhile do what you can to cope through today... I wish you well with both appointments!

Thank you so much for replying. I really appreciate your kind words. While the odds are in my favor, I can't help but have an ominous feeling about it all.

I had a hard lump on the same side. I had a lumpectomy then reduction on both breast. I freaked. They ended up doing biopsy and it was fat necrosis/scar tissue. Mine was at 7-8 months and they felt it was as early for it. Prayers for you !

My fat necrosis under a scar was found 2 years after diagnosed. But my understanding is so much tissue gets disrupted that it could be anywhere. Let us know what you find out.
