edited March 2021 in Waiting for Test Results

Hi all!

Last month, I had my yearly mammogram screening. A few days later, I received a call that they needed additional tests. I went this past Friday and had a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. The spot they were looking at came back fine, but they wanted to still do the ultrasound. My ultrasound results came back with a totally different spot that needs to be biopsied. This spot didn’t even show up on my screening mammogram or my diagnostic mammogram. I meet with one of my doctors in the morning to go over everything and hopefully they can get this biopsy scheduled quickly. I have a history of ADH in my left breast, but I’ve never had any issues with the right, up until now. My lymph nodes keep going up and down on that right side and I’ve been having upper arm pain. Not sure if it’s related or not?

As I learn things as I go forward, I’ll post and keep you all posted. Can any of you relate? Also, I’m getting an Ultrasound guided needle biopsy. What should I expect? Thanks! Hugs to you all!

mcmommy, my ultrasound biopsy was a piece of cake and just took a few minutes. It stings a little right when they start injecting the numbing, but that was it as far as any pain for me. They find the spot with the ultrasound and guided by the screen, use a device that takes a few cores (it “clicks” kind of loudly), then stick a steristrip or little bandage on, give you a little cold pack to slip in your bra and send you on your way

Good luck to you! The waiting is hard; I hope it’s scheduled soon and that you get an all-clear from your results.

Hi mcmommy and welcome! They truly could be separate issues - breast/node issues and arm though you won't really know until you get the biopsy and results. I ended up with DCIS and developed a tennis elbow issue impacting my upper and lower arm about 5 weeks before the DCIS diagnosis.... timing was coincidental. I hope that is true in your case as well! Best!
