Nipple hypersensitivity/tenderness after excisional biopsy

I had an excisional biopsy a little more than three weeks ago with the incision made under my breast fold. I'm now finding the nipple on that breast feels irritated/tender all of the time and it's driving me crazy! I'm assuming this has something to do with nerves healing. Does anyone have any suggestions what I can do to ease this? Also has anyone else experienced this with a biopsy/lumpectomy? I'd love some reassurance that this will eventually go away :)

    Hi MKG
I had two (2) lumpectomies in November with the incision under my right arm. I also experienced nipple sensitivity and lots of swelling for about 4-5 weeks. I found the nipple sensitivity very annoying. The doctor said it was 'due to gravity' as I have very large breasts. I found wearing a sports bra 24/7 helped and it did get significantly better by the 6 week mark. Have you checked with your doctor?

I mentioned some nipple pain at my one week follow up visit and my doc was pretty dismissive. She just said the incision hadn't been near the nipple but that it could be nerves healing. She did also mention pain could be worse because I'm also large breasted. She didn't schedule any further visits and I literally saw her for 60 seconds during the one week follow up. I don't like her and haven't felt listened to at any point during this process so I've been avoiding going back in but I probably should just suck it up and make another follow up appointment to discuss these concerns.

I noticed it! Drove me crazy. It resolved in a few weeks. I had a lumpectomy on the right and excisional biopsy on the left (same time) and noticed it in both nipples.
