I’d like to hear experiences of people who have gotten Covid vaccine while on chemotherapy please.

More important than individual anecdotes is what your mo recommends. What did he/she say when asked about it?

Then there is your answer! Individuals, whether on chemo or not, will have different reactions to the Covid19 vaccine or any other vaccine for that matter. If your mo, who is very aware of your particular circumstances, says to take the vaccine then go ahead and make an appointment.

I just got my 2nd shot on Thursday after my oncologist okayed it. The day after I was extremely tired and ran a fever. I think it was worse than it would have been since I was just getting over my last round of chemo. I have no regrets as feeling more protected is worth a couple of days of feeling bad.

I'm going to ask my MO about the vaccine when I see him next time. I've not had any interest since I don't need anything to make me feel worse, plus I'm pretty much staying in isolation most of the time. I expect him to say it's OK since MD Anderson has been posting about vaccine availability on MyChart.

My MO strongly encouraged me to get mine during chemo. I had the first dose. There definitely is a lot of evidence of how dangerous the virus is during chemo. I decided to get the vaccine

I just got my second Covid vaccination today...two days after my first treatment of Kadcyla and just after finishing 5 months of chemo plus surgery. My oncologist and surgeon encouraged me to go ahead and get the vaccine since I live in a high rate area. I felt absolutely fine after the first shot and so far, so good on the second one. I got the Pfizer. I have heard that the one shot J&J is a bit more prone to side effects but doable. I figured it was better to be as protected as I can be as I continue this journey. Good luck to all. Be well!
