So, im only 27 years old. I'm a mum to 4 and a wife!

for the past 6 weeks I've had painful swelling in my right armpit, over the last few days the pain has spread to my actual breast, all down the side and I'm getting shooting pains in my nipple which have woke me up at night.
When I raise my right arm my nipple is tucking inward and on closer examination I have a small dimple under the breast, on the bone.
I'm booking a gp appointment tomorrow but I've already convinced myself of the worst. Which is what we do best isn't it?

guess I'm just looking for similar stories and some reassurance.

Bea26, sorry you find yourself here and that you are scared.

Pain and swelling under your arm could be any number of things and the swelling could be causing the difference in appearance you believe you are seeing, and I would guess that at 27 most of those possibilities are a lot more likely than “the worst.”

What you are doing is called catastrophic thinking, or catastrophizing. Yes, that is what some people do best, but most people don’t automatically go to worst case scenarios. Try to do something fun or something else that keeps your mind busy until you can get in to get checked out. Try not to worry before you know you have something to worry about.

Hang in there and let us know what your doctor says.

Bea26, We understand how changes to our bodies can cause great anxiety, but as MelissaDallas says, we hope you can stay calm. Glad you're getting it checked out, and please keep us posted!
