I have my first mammogram schedule (which I am patiently awaiting to arrive) after being diagnosed with stage 1B IDC. I'm just curious as to how many have went to for the very first one and had new findings...such calcification, scar tissue,, small mass, or finding in lymph nodes...would you be so kind to share your experience? Even though I hoping and praying that I will be told all clear! Just curious as to what other have been told...Thanks in advance...

stepitup, do you mean this is the first one after you were treated, also?

Tomorrow will be 2 years since I was diagnosed with triple negative IDC. I had a 1.5cm tumor and DCIS. In 2019 I had lumpectomy, AC chemo, and radiation. Afterwards, I had a reduction on the healthy breast for symmetry. A year ago I had the first mammogram and a whole breast ultrasound (ABVS,) because of dense breasts. The mammogram saw nothing. The ABVS saw something in the healthy breast. Follow up US showed it to be a seroma from the reduction surgery. It resolved on its own.

At the beginning of this month I had my 2nd mammogram since treatment. The mammogram saw nothing. The ABVS showed something in the cancer breast. Follow up US showed it to be a fat necrosis, completely benign, and it will probably resolve by itself (nothing needs to be done either way.)

So yes, your upcoming scans may show things that are any number of issues, cysts, seromas, scar tissues, active fat lumps (as a different thing on a scan showed for me,) fat necrosis, and so on. As prior to your diagnosis, the probabilities are high that anything found is benign.

    Good luck.
