    Beth, The Prize Winner ended on a good note. I'll pm you with how it ended if you like. You should finish watching it. Hubby did right by her in the end. You will be surprised.

    Fastwalkers sounds really interesting. I think the boys want to see it when it comes to the theaters. We are going to see Ghostrider this weekend before the snow hits on Sunday!

    The latest movie I saw is called "Departed." It was awesome. Not for those who have weak stomachs though.

    We went and saw Wild Hogs this afternoon - hilarious!! I lol'd through the whole thing. DH loved it too.

    I just saw the Queen. Helen M. did a great job...yet it was slow. I need a good laugh so might take DH to see wild hogs.

    Sierra, I haven't heard of Fastwalkers but now I'll have to look it up.

    Just saw Stranger than Fiction with Will Farrell 2 nights ago. Good concept but we found it pretty boring and semi-depressing. I wound up fast forwarding to the end midway through just to find out how it ended.

    I saw Little Children with Kate Winslet. My husband liked it, I HATED it - there are a couple of scenes that are so disturbing, relating to a subplot about a sex offender - not violent or explicit, just totally depressing. I go to movies to be entertained, not depressed!

    I thought 'Prizewinner of Defiance Ohio' was good. Why that woman put up with her husband I'll never know!

    I rented 'Friends with Money'. IMO it was awful!!!!! It was depressing and in the the end the renegade character falls into something so unoriginal.

    I also found this TV show, 'Bones'. I'm a CSI fan and it's kind of like that. I'll watch that over "Friends with Money" any day.

    My officemate really liked "Stranger than Fiction". I haven't seen it yet but I think I will.

    Well, we just got back from taking our two younger boys to see "Ghostrider". It was very good. I didn't even doze off let alone fall asleep as I usually do. Teh special effects were fabulous. DH said it followed the original comic.

    I also borrowed "Poseidon" form my ss. It was also great. "Rumor Has It" (also borrowed) left me kind of bored. "Hoodwinked" was good and made me laugh. My 4 year old gs said I could keep it because he didn't like it! We got "The Prestige" in from Netflix and I have yet to watch it. This week, for sure.

    Friends With Money was terrible. Two hours of our lives we'll never get back...lol!

    Just saw The Jacket on HBO. If you like movies that are psych thrillers like The Sixth Sense then I highly reccommend The Jacket. Has that Brody guy in it.

    I live in Ocala, Fl, 15 miles from John Travolta's house. He did a VIP preview here for Wild Hogs. My girlfriend got an invite (only 200 people did) and met John and saw the movie. She loved it and said John and Kelly look much younger in real life. Marsha

    Hoping to see '300' soon. Anyone see it yet? Has anyone been to an IMAX theatre? What exactly is it?

    Pretty good....
    The Departed - Expected a guy flick - very good
    Little Miss Sunshine - Surprisingly good
    The Magdalene Sisters - Sad
    Man of the Year - Entertaining, you have to like Robin Williams
    Quiet - Just ok
    Crank - Definite guy flick but you may want to watch it on a treadmill or something. Very strange but fast moving. Better if they didn't throw in the stereotypical dumb blond girlfriend. I found her painfully annoying.
    The Illusionist - Didn't expect to like it but watched it twice since DH fell asleep the first time.
    Looking for Kitty - Another surprise that I liked this one.

    Babel - Found it too disturbing and predictable.
    Marie Antoinette - Couldn't get into it at all
    Conversations with Women - total crap but I had to fast forward to even get through it.
    Devil Wears Prada - I may be the only one who didn't like this "fluff". Big Meryl Streep fan though.
    Friend's With Money - Just hated this flick
    A Prairie Home Companion - Should stick with radio
    Sherry Baby - Really disliked

    My 'to see' list is growing from all the suggestions above. You can see that we don't get to the movies much but rent flicks on the weekend. So, sorry for all the oldies.

    MMMMM John Travola on a hog. Yum. I'm going to see Wild Hogs as soon as I get a free day. I'm with you, I want to be entertained at a movie. Real Life is enough of a downer sometimes!

    the last movie I went to the theater to see was "Night at the Museum". I really liked it and DH did too (now that is a recommendation). I can take or leave ben Stiller but he was good in this role. We saw it at a new concept movie theater, dinner and a movie. You had a table in front of you, a waiter comes and takes your order and checks on you (quietly) thru the film. The food was good and they had a full bar (best espresso martini I have had). Wish I had thought of the concept!

    I also didn't like 'Devil'. Couldn't put my finger on why, it was just Blah.

    I bought "Man of the Year" & the the second "Pirates". Will take them on vacation and watch them soon. Yes, I rent or buy the DVD's more than going to the theater.

    gosh i haven't been to the movies in such a very long time....well I went to go see Norbit. I thought it was okay, not Eddie's best work, I thought he could have done a lot better. Today my husband went to go see 300 with some friends. I still want to see Zodiac, Blood Snake Moan, and Wild Hogs....

    It's been out a while but I absolutely loved "The Notebook"

    Also picked up some $1 movies at Wal-Mart a couple weeks ago and got some good ones. Loved "East Of Eden" with Tyne Daly.

    Sphynx, Apparently they were only inviting "socials" and also people who have supported the arts in Ocala, Fl/Marion County. My friend is married to a doctor and also his family are "old Ocala" and donate alot of money. Funny though when she went to shake his hand and get her much paid for autograph, she went stupid. Completely blanked out, finally her hubby got a pix autographed for her saying "Hi Jackie, Love John Travolta". HAHAHA Marsha

    We rented " Invincible" and it is a real feel good movie. I hate sports, but this is a great film for couples because it is about a real underdog winning.

    Loved " The departed" !!! I am NY Irish , and it rang so
    true in some of the dialogue!! I miss NY at St Pat's for sure this year!!!!

    Ha - Marsha. Why is it we get so star stuck? I think I would have "gone stupid" myself with John Travolta.

    We saw "300" Friday evening at an IMAX theater. Well, I think the theater was 90% guys. I didn't even know that guys go to see movies with their "guy friends". I was going to say "boy friends" but, you know what I mean.

    If you see it with your DH, it is worth at least 2 chick flicks and 1 foreign flick that he should have to sit through. Lots of testosterone there. I didn't think the IMAX was that great. You have assigned seats and kids came in late so there was a lot of ... "you're in my seat" things going on that was distracting. What is with all the cell phones? Kids putting them up in the air to show their friends where they were (I think).

    Now I know why I like to rent videos. Sit back in a comfy chair, eat popcorn until you explode, put on closed captioning (we are both going deaf) and pause for potty breaks.

    I've always passed up "The Notebook" because I heard it was sad. I'll have to give it a try.

    I saw a wonderful movie--but its not a family movie or some husbands for that matter---They will be bored out of their
    skulls.--Really, not everyones cup of tea.

    I just loved it. Its a quiet, breathtaking, psychological, period piece called --Girl with the Pearl Earing with
    Scarlett Johansson and Colin Firth.

    This film has its own audience and if its for you, you will find it mesmerizing and come away with the feeling you've just watched something very special.

    Friends with Money was kind of warped. I just wanted to slap all those women.

    A better movie is Nine Lives but it has one viniette that I found myself bawling through. It has a great cast.

    I loved The Holiday. It had a bit more depth then I expected.

    I just finished Casino Royale; Daniel Craig is HOT!!!!!

    I suggest Cuckoo for those who like foreign flicks. It is one of the most clever movies. My other most favorite foreign flick is Amelie, or maybe, Cinema Paradiso or anything by Pedro Almodovar.

    I absolutely loved "Wild Hogs". William H.Macy kept me laughing so much, my kids switched seats to get away from me! It is the kind of movie that we all need from time to time- a pleasant escape.

    I saw Music and Lyrics recently. It was really, really cheesy and slow in the middle, but it got better towards the end.

    The next movie I want to see is "Premonition" with Sandra Bullock. I have always been a fan of her work.

    We recently bought the DVD series Joan of Arcadia for our kids and our entire family loves, loves it. We are scheming up ways to get the show back up and running after its cancellation two years ago. Hey! Resurrections can happen.

    oh, I want to see Premonition as well. I always like Sandra Bullock movies. We haven't seen Wild Hogs yet, but I loved William H. Macy in Fargo. He is so good.

    I want to see them all! Friends of mine saw Wild Hogs and thoroughly loved it. Unfortunatley, dh has a bad back and sitting in the theater bothers him. He "suffered" through Ghostrider because he really wanted to see it. Seems his back can stand certain movies. Apparently, anything that sounds like a chick flick bothers his back.

    So, with that in mind, my best friend, Carol, is arranging a night out with the girls and have a "bye bye boobies" event. We are getting all of my girlfriends, without hubbies or so's, and my sil's and 2 cousins and seeing Premonition and dinner out. Then who knows!?!?! Should be fun before my surgery while I can still have a glass of something alcoholic!

    We had a great time a couple of weekends ago when two favorites were actually playing in theaters:

    Seven Samarai - great Kurasawa movie. There was an american remake of it with Yul Brenner, I'm blanking on the name that is also really good.

    Children of Paradise - a fabulous French film from 1947 made under the German occupation with an interesting story about it's making. The film (it's actually two films b/c there was a rule that films couldn't be over 90") is wonderful. On everybody's top 10 if they've ever seen it!

    It was so cool to go to two movies with intermissions!

    Just rented Dark Days - fascinating documentary and the documentary on the DVD on the making of the film is also wonderful. Really remarkable story.

    Someone just told me about The Islander - a recently released independent that he saw in Seattle. He thought it was the best film he'd seen in a long time.

    The original Robert Altman (actually the name of the friend who told me about The Islander!) M*A*S*H is on the calendar for tonight.
