Long term survivors

Can we have a section for long term survivors, health and issues because of treatment, surgery, pain.

Worring about getting diagnosed again.

    Dreaming - there are lots of threads for long term survivors that are continually updated - 5 years, 10 years, etc. Usually they're by the type of cancer - since that makes a difference. Check in the search section. Sorry you're worried. Maybe post in the "not diagnosed but worried" thread.

    The thread is for 5 year survivors but many of the posters have many more years than that.

    i think long term survivors/ health issues would be a great addition. I'm 11 years out & was diagnosed with radiation induced heart disease 4 years ago. Heart disease is not a rare long term side effect by any means, but connecting with those who experience it is difficult. My cardiologist says all cancer treatment is hard on the heart, I would love to see more awareness of this on sites like this one.

    I am 25 years survivor, had several biopsies, lumps removed.

    Got a frozen shoulder common to who like me thought that after 18 lymph nodes removed and masectomy did not need to exercise my arm,my mistake, took one year of pt to move the arm again.

    Continue doing the exercises if you had removal of multiple lymph nodes, and masectomy.

    Another side effect are scoliosis because if one had 1 breast removed the weight of the other affects the spine.

    Yes ,chemo can affect the heart specially if adriamycin was the chemo.Radiation also has long term side effects.

    I regularly see a cardiologist yearly.

    Pain ,I sometimes get sharp pain under my axila that also is numb and under my reconstruction.

    The problem long term survivors we have is our age, doctors tend to think are aches and pains due to age, I have to tell mine what I need.

    And is almost impossible to find a post cancer specialist, I dont think exist.

    Having retired from the medical field, I know what is related to my cancer.

    I hope we hear for more long term survivors.
