Do you have to wait a certain amount of time between the COVID vaccine and getting prolia? I’ve called everyone in the field and no one can give me straight answer. Hopefully someone has been faced with this and can give me some advice

I'm planning on having my 2nd vaccine 3 weeks before my Prolia is scheduled.

If you haven't called Amgen yet, they have a pretty responsive customer service department. Here's a link with some contradictions and the number to contact them. And there's a link at the top about getting your Prolia shot during COVID 19

thanks for your reply. I actually called Amgen and they said they had no idea how long between. Do you have to wait three weeks or is a week ok.

Try clicking on the link towards the top. There are questions & answers and another link to click on a doctor discussion.

However, sorry I'm not a doctor. I just decided on 3 weeks by myself. You really should ask your MO or your endocrinologist or whoever is monitoring your treatment and keep them in the loop.

I get it monthly (Xgeva - same thing essentially) and in January I had my first vaccine (Oxford) two days before my monthly shot. No problems, and I was worried as I had a reaction (rash) when getting the Xgeva a few days after the flu shot this year.

I contacted by endocrinologist who treats my osteoporosis at Johns Hopkins with this question. I received a prolia injection on January 14th. I was able to schedule my first dose of Moderna vaccine on January 29th. I was concerned about receiving the vaccine after my prolia injection. My doctor told me they are advising patients to wait at least 7 days after prolia injection, and since it would be 14 days, I was fine to get the shot. I got my first shot on January 29th, and so far no issues.
