I haven't been diagnosed yet but worried
I am a little nervous about going back but not panicking. I d not know any of my family back ground on breast cancer . The findings are below from first mammogram I go back for another one and a ultrasound
Digital breast tomosynthesis was performed and used in the
interpretation of images. Current study was also evaluated with a
Computer Aided Detection (CAD) system.
No prior exams were available for comparison.
There are scattered areas of fibroglandular density.
Examination indicates an intramammary lymph node in the left breast.
There is a focal asymmetry with an indistinct margin in the left
breast at 12 o'clock posterior depth.
No other significant masses, calcifications, or other findings are
seen in either breast.breast.
The focal asymmetry in the left breast appears indeterminate. Spot
compression view as well as an ultrasound are recommended.
The exam was reviewed by a staff physician.

Welcome Becca! I am unable to help with the medical info you posted... my knowledge of these things is fairly limited.... There will be others who will come along, hopefully before too long, to help you out with that. I really just want to welcome you to the site. I hope you do not have to wait too long for the diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. The waiting is so difficult as I'm sure you realize. Do what you can to keep yourself busy with enjoyable or lighter things as much possible while you're waiting. I hope you have some support at home though certainly there is a lot of support and good info. here...

Hi Becca116,
It is really common to be called back after first mammograms when there are no old films to look at to know what your “normal” is. Lots of times focal asymmetry on closer look with more images turns out to be nothing. It can even be from a fold in the skin under the plate. They very well may look again and say it is fine and “see you next year.” Even if they should decide it needs a biopsy, remember anything estimated to have even a 3% chance of being cancer is recommended for biopsy. Most (between 70-80%) of breast biopsies are benign

hi Becca116, I'm happy that you fond this site and had the courage to post. I totally understand you being nervous! It's a scary thing to go for a routine exam and have to go back for more imaging. The waiting is very hard. When is your next appointment? Like LivinLife said, try to stay busy in the meantime. Give yourself some time to feel your feelings and then move on to anything that gets your mind off it. Do something good for yourself too, we often are taking care of everything and everyone else and lose sight of just being good to ourselves. Please let us know how the imaging turns out. I'm hoping for good results! Hugs
