Pregnant with breast implants - upcoming biopsy for IBC

Hi Ladies,

I'm mostly looking to find similar testimonies because so far, I haven't found anyone who'd be in a similar situation.

I'm 36, 29w pregnant with my first baby. I've had silicone breast implants for 14 years ( I think it's worth pointing out even if the docs have never really mentioned it as a possible factor).

Since the beginning of this pregnancy, my breasts have at least doubled size ( I was a C cup before and I'm probably a double D now) .

Mid December, my left breast ( which is the biggest in general) got a red rash below the nipple: not itchy, but red almost purply and hot to the touch. I immediately thought that there was an issue with my implants. Went to see a GP who didn't think so and gave me a cream with steroids to treat it as an allergy. Didn't help at all.

I went back and in the meantime, my right one was also starting to bother me ( I have a lot of red stretch marks on the right one) .

GP thought it could be an infection so I got 5 days of antibiotics while taking Claritin in case it was still an allergy.

By the end of December , both my breasts were fully red and hot to the touch just like a sunburn. However it comes and goes. It sometimes flares up and my nipples get huge and both boobs are super hot and sometimes they're almost normal, however you can still distinguish a fainted redness.

I also have peau d'orange on both, it seems even more obvious on the left one but it is on both.

After trying ALL their useless creams, I went back probably for the 4th time and finally got an appointment for an US.

It was last week. I can't remember exactly what the specialist told me after the US but it didn't seem to show much because of my breasts density however because I have peau d'orange + redness , she sent me to get a mammogram the same day.

The mammogram didn't show much either but she said " you're not out of the woods yet, even if IBC on both breasts would be extremely rare, we need to rule it out " and I wasn't surprised because after a ton of researches online, IBC was unfortunately the only disease matching my symptoms.

I now have a guided biopsy planned in 3 days.

It's extremely weird to be creating life and think about your own death at the same time. Some days I'm so optimistic. Then sometimes, I just let the fear cripple in. But I push it back as quickly as possible.

I am a pretty spiritual person ( not religious but spiritual) and I am ready to accept what's coming, whatever it is but of course, the wait is tough, the idea of a biopsy too as my boobs already hurt ( not when I touch them by the way. They're just too warm and too big) .

What's weird is that beside my breasts, I feel so good! I am almost certain that what I have is a reaction to my implants + pregnancy hormones but can't find anything about that on the Breast implants illness websites or groups.

Anyone with similar stories, I'd love to hear from you. What was the outcome ? Did you also have implants?
