Hi everyone,

I've been here a year ago in this forum. Had left breast pain with armpit, back, and shoulder pain on the same side. Its been there for 7 months. I had an ultrasound January of 2020 and results came back with many clustered and simple cysts. I got physical therapy for my back and pectoralis muscle region, and the pain in my left side all gone.

Now im dealing with the same feeling again, this time in my right breast, armpit, shoulder, and back pain. Today I came I got ultrasound. And the result is the same, many clustered cysts and simple cysts. All small. The radiologist told me its most probably fibrocystic breast.

Although I have a relief that theres no mass found in my breasts. But the pain bothers me. Its always like my breasts are tired and tender. With occasional burning, muscle pulling ache.

Im here becoz I wanna know if there is someone out there experienced the same as me. And how do you deal with it? I want the cysts to go away coz its hurting me. :(

I'm 33 yo, with one Aunt from father's side died from BC. Never been pregnant

    Clarebarez,

I don’t know that there is much you can do about developing cysts. If you had a few big ones having them aspirated might help, but it sounds like you have lots of small ones. Sadly, a lot of women just tend to have achy, tender, painful hormonal breasts. Cutting out caffeine seems to help some women. Taking Motrin or Aleve for the week before your period starts can be helpful if it tends to be cyclical if you don’t have any contraindication to those drugs. Have you talked to your gynecologist? Maybe some forms of birthcontrol might help too

    Good day sis Melissa,

Thank you so much for responding. I havent showed the report to my OB. Im going this friday, and im just expecting her to say its normal, its hormonal etc. :(

I'll try to ask her for helpful supplements. Now my breasts are all achy because of the pressure from ultrasound.

I'm also wondering, I love milk tea. I drink almost everyday. Should I give up on that too

I cut out coffee at age 40. It made such an amazing difference in painful breasts. Cutting out caffeine is a reasonable thing to try

Hi, I have had fibrocystic, hormonal breasts for most of my life. As I get older they have improved. I have always limited my coffee intake to 2-cups and I don't drink soda. My Mom swore if she drank too much wine it gave her sore breast. Just before your period you start to retain fluid and that is the culprit. Try limiting your salt and sugar intake and see if that makes a difference.

I am not sure if cutting caffeine would help with your painful breast; but here is my experience how cutting caffeine that helps me since I was diagnosed with bc last December.

I had several appointments with my PCP, OBGY in November; each appointment shows I have hypertension (not enough to start me blood pressure medication though). All my doctors advised me to increase my dosage for Vitamin D, cut caffeine to a minimal, and log my blood pressure daily and report back.

The day that I got my biopsy done (mid Dec 2020), I cut caffeine cold-turkey ((I used to have caffeine withdrawals and have to take Advil if I didn’t have my Starbucks Frappuccino /coffee for a day or 2). But this time, I just cut it cold.

Surprisingly, this time I don’t need Advil to help with my headache caused by missing my daily caffeine in take). And most importantly, my blood pressure coming down to a normal level (126/84 was recorded yesterday by the nurse - I had my surgery yesterday).

I sent my blood pressure log to my PCP last week or so, she is happy for me because it clearly headed to the right direction.

Again I am not saying cutting caffeine/milk teawould help with your painful breast for sure, but I strongly feel in my case caffeine did play a role in my hypertension... and perhaps cutting it would help with your anxiety and sleep quality too.

Thank you so much girls for your inputs. I will try to take Vitamin D and update here if it goes well. For now, I have lesser breast pain. Occasional cysts pain due to pressure from ultrasound is still there.

    :(

Vitamin D3 (2000iu/50mcg) Infused with Coconut Oil ~ Non-GMO & Gluten Free (360 Mini Liquid Softgels) by Sports Research on Amazon with their K2. I was on the combo where the vit D3 was 5000iu, but my level is now in the high 50's. Have you had you vit D level checked? That might determine how much you need.

Agree - You should be OK with 2000-4000 IU, (2000 IU = 50 mg) But do ask your doc first. And do get a quick blood test for Vit D. I now buy Kirkland brand Vit D at Costco.

I had cyclical (hormonal) breast pain when I was younger, and avoiding caffeinated drinks and chocolate did help. Maybe you can make your milk tea with decaf tea.

Once you get your 25-OH D level checked, you will have a better idea of how much to supplement. I needed 5000 iu per day of D3 to bring it up to normal, then 2000 iu of D3to maintain.
