edited February 2021 in Not Diagnosed But Worried

I am less than 1 year out from my cancer diagnosis in right breast. Just went for my 6 month mammo/US on Tuesday and they found something on left side they want biopsied:

Left: Upper Outer at 1:30, 3 cm from nipple, measuring 12 x 4

mm: No corresponding mammogram finding. There is an irregularly

shaped, hypoechoic solid mass with angular margins present. Doppler

shows no internal flow.

BIRADS 4

I know the "no internal flow" is good but the angular margins are not. Was wondering if anyone had anything similar and what it turned out to be. Biopsy is next Weds.

Thanks.

So sorry you are going through this again BCat! I just want to welcome you... I have the same take as you - no blood flow running through is good though I do not know about other things.... Glad your biopsy is scheduled already so you at least have one "known" in the mix then the waiting for results as you know.... I'm glad you posted and others should chime in too before long.

Two years out from my initial cancer I had my first biopsy. It was terrifying but it was negative. Hoping the same for you!!

    Thanks LivinLife and Salamandra.

Even if this is benign it kind of makes me wish I had just had a DMX.

I also had my seroma come back in the lumpectomy site on the right side and doc is recommending drainage so i'm having a fun filled day at the breast center on Weds getting poked on both sides.

Well it turned out to be a fibroadenoma. I was all freaked out because I kept reading that angular margins are highly suggestive of malignancy but apparently fibroadenomas can also have angular margins.

So glad for you. There are a lot of fibroadenomas that forgot to read the textbook on how they are supposed to look on imaging

    Ha!--It's a rebel fibroadenoma.

So I'm glad this was benign but I have a big nasty bruise from the biopsy and a piece of metal left in there as a marker. I wonder how many pieces of metal I am going to be accumulating in my breast if things continue to go like this. And I didn't survive the experience emotionally unscathed. Maybe if I can rack up a couple of clean scans without callbacks I will feel better. As it stands I got a callback and cancer diagnosis from my first mammo/US and then a callback/biopsy at my first post-treatment follow up mammo/US. If this happens again I am going to seriously consider prophylactic MX on left side for sanity's sake. I'd like to think the radiation on right side would have killed off any new microscopic brewing rogue cells and bought me a few years of clean scans on that side.

So happy for you BCat!!! I hear your frustration too.... Those call backs and biopsies I've had are yet another reason I'm glad I had a BMX. DCIS was on the left though the majority of call backs and 2 of the 3 biopsies I had were on the right.... So glad I don't have all of that to go through anymore tho I also realize BMX does not mean there is never a possibility of scans/biopsies.... you get my point tho! Best to you!
