sent for urgent ultrasound/mammogram
not sure what I’m looking for other then a safe place to lay out the nerves and worry. Realistically I know I just need to wait it out until my tests come back....but that’s super hard to do!
Sometime in end of October/ early November I switched deodorants, shortly after I stared experiencing pain in the area. I have terribly sensitive skin and a few allergies to common ingredients in cosmetic products, so I assumed it was a reaction and stopped using it. The pain came and went for awhile. I tried using other pold stand by products and even quit shaving the area to see if that would help.
Well in last two weeks the discomfort had become something I couldn’t ignore anymore and I began to realize it Want just in my underarm. But was extending into my breast. I decided to shave in the shower and get a good look afterwards. That’s when I realized there was noticeable swelling in my underarm as well as dimpling in the lower part of my breast that wasn’t there before.so I made an appointment.
NP agrees that there was significant swelling and dimpling. Neither of us could feel a lump but I have large breasts and I’m worried the swelling maybe masking a lump.she Ordered bloodwork, and stat ultrasound/mammogram......which apparently stat means waiting a week 😂
bloodwork has come back normal. Although my WBC was on the border of low. I’m really hoping that’s a sign it’s just a weird infection (although not other symptoms like a fever)fingers crossed 🤞 I have stopped breastfeeding about 7 months ago so maybe something related to that?
just so worried and waiting is awful.

Hi Lila Grace. I don’t have any insight into what it could be but wanted to jump in and keep you company until someone more knowledgeable, with more experience comes along. There are many on this board who know a lot about ultrasounds and the like. I’m sure they will be along shortly. In the meantime, hang in there. It is horrible waiting.

I am in the same situation as you. I found a lump last week and saw my primary doctor today. I wasn’t even worried about anything until he felt it and said he’s concerned and wants me to get an urgent 3D diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. So now it’s a waiting game. I go tomorrow morning for bloodwork and I’m scheduled for the other tests Monday morning. He said I should know something the same day. I wish you the best and hope all your tests come back clear.

Dear Lila_grace and Christine04,
Welcome to the BCO community. We are sorry for these breast changes and the worry that they bring. We are glad that you reached out for support while you are waiting. Here is a link to information on our site about Common Imaging and symptom concerns and questions. There may be some helpful information there while you wait for others to offer their support. Everyone here understand the stress of waiting. We are here to wait with you. Keep us posted on what you learn.

Lila- Waiting is the most dreadful time. Yes it def could be an infection - I hope that is what they find and that you are on the mend very soon.
Chrisitine04- I'm glad your doc is taking your concerns seriously and getting you in quick. Tons of lumps are benign so try to reassure yourself of that it's likely not cancer.

Welcome Lila and Christine! Unfortunately I cannot be of help on the medical side of things either. I also just want to offer support and welcome the two of you. Christine if you haven't already I'd encourage you to start your own thread. You can receive specific feedback and info on your concerns and questions as more information comes your way.... As was said waiting is quite difficult and a week can feel like a month right now. Do what you can to keep yourselves occupied and engage in good self-care while you're waiting.... it will help you cope better even though it will still be difficult....
