Any interpretation on my radiologists report?
Hello!
I am waiting to hear from my doctor. I think I have the results before him. Any indication on whether or not this looks like it may be cancer or is it not enough?
"... poorly defined hypoechoic lesion containing a shadowing calcification. The margins are poorly discerned. No internal vascularity. There are dilated ducts in the retro areolar regions bilaterally"
... blah blah other spots that will be followed up in six months...
Then
"Ultimately, this may require ultrasound guided biopsy. I would recommend a diagnostic mammogram which can be compared with a more remote mammogram from March 2014. This patient will be recalled for a diagnostic mammogram by our institution for additional imaging work up."
Thanks in advance.

ThisIsMyUserName,
You haven't provided us with the complete narrative. Some of that 'blah, blah' .... may be important. But, the fact they want a diagnostic mammogram and perhaps an ultrasound guided biopsy indicates they are thinking of cancer.

There should be a Birads score at the bottom of your report. From what you chose to post I cannot help answer. If you want to share that

Hello,
Thank you for responding. The blah blah was talk of two other hypoechoic lesions that they gave a birads score of 3 to follow up with in six months. One had a couple bumps on it and the other had an angular margin so we’d follow them.I have a mammogram on Tuesday but I’m breastfeeding still, so I’m wondering if they suspect cancer (to what degree I have no idea), why not just get a biopsy?
I suppose it would help in giving my a birads score... which would be nice, but at the end of the day, I just would like to know if it’s cancer and if it is the type and what our plan is.

What prompted the ultrasound to begin with
Too much left out,of your report, but “poorly visualized” means exactly that. They can’t make out what they are seeing, so they want some more views to try to clarify it. Could be that the diagnostic mammogram clears it up. The reason for the “ultimately a ultrasound guided biopsy may be required” is if it doesn’t. Most of the time having a biopsy does not mean they think you have cancer. Most of the time they are just ruling out cancer, thus most breast biopsies are benign. The fact you are breastfeeding makes all of your imaging harder to interpret.

A birads 3 is not a score that indicates cancer, or even a biopsy. Since you are breastfeeding, what they see could most likely be related to that. Good luck on your mammogram. Let us know how that goes.
