Biopsy results due in the next day or two
Hi all,
Stumbled across this board while “doom scrolling” through the internet. Had a mammogram at the end of December because my GP thought she found a suspicious lump during a routine exam. Ultrasound on the area of suspected lump revealed nothing but mammogram revealed microcalcifications in both breasts. The radiologist told me she is more concerned about those in the left breast as they are more indicative of possible cancer, but biopsies were taken from all three locations anyhow. Now is the waiting part, which is driving me crazy. I’m only 34 but I have a family history of breast cancer as well as some of the other risk factors—cycle started when I was 11, I have extremely dense breasts, etc. Needless to say, it’s been a long weekend of trying to not fret but not being able to think of much else.
I’ve only told my husband about it, because maybe (hopefully) there’ll be nothing to tell anyone else! But in the meantime, thought I would share with others who have or are currently going through similar experiences.

Hi Bryal. I'm sorry you have this to worry about, but this is the best possible site to share that, and to find more information. The waiting is the worst! Within a day or two you'll probably know a lot more. My best wishes to you that your biopsy results find nothing of concern.

I second MountainMia... I want to welcome you - this is a great site full of information and support. The waiting is hard - no other way around it.... Do what you can to put your focus on what you are doing in the moment (mindfulness) even though your worry will not go away... Do relaxing and enjoyable things as part of this... check out the cat and dog forums... Hopefully you will hear back by the end of the week if not before then? Please let us know what you hear....

I'm in a similar boat. I'm getting my biopsy results at 3pm today. Calcifications and architectural distortion. The waiting is horrible but I've learned this is a great community and breast cancer is more treatable now than ever. Best wishes to you.

thanks for all the support. Just heard from the doc and all three sites were benign. Such a relief after all of these weeks worrying about it. Jen—I hope your results were as positive! I wish you all the best.
I am happy to have found this board regardless, it’s truly helpful knowing that when one is facing such a terrifying prospect, there are so many out there whom have been through it or are going through it to offer support. -
Congratulations, Bryal! Very very good news.

Hello,
Brand new to this forum. I just got home from a Stereotactic Biopsy. Quick history: 55 years old. First time biopsy. After routine mammo, I went for further screening including a sonogram, ultrasound and a diagnostic mammo. Doctor told me there's a 'pulling' she sees on mammo, that wasn't there last year. No cyst, no nodule, no mass, no tumor...just different looking tissue. When I pressed her, she said 'under 50%" chance of malignancy. I pressed again, and she said "like 25-30%. I've been on this board reading and reading stories--which are helpful. Results Friday--and of course the waiting is the worst part..... I'm staying busy and very positive! It is what it is, right? The procdure today was 'OK". Uncomfortable. ....a bit of pain but she added more lidocaine when needed. Prayers for all of us in this same boat. Thx for reading ! - Emily

It would be best to start your own thread so people can respond to you.
-
Thank you, didn't know I was supposed to do that

Emily, I hope your biopsy results are benign! Please let us know. And if you have questions or concerns, do start your own thread - that way the focus will be all on you and your situation and questions. People coming to this thread may read Bryal's post and not even see yours.
Good luck with the results!
-
Thank you, Bessie! I do often read your posts to others--they are comforting and you seem so knowledgeable. I will definitely try to start my own thread--having some trouble there.....In any event, I will post my results when I hear. Thx again! Emily

I just want to welcome you Emilyann! You may have started your own thread by now... I haven't made my way through new postings yet... Just wanted to welcome you either way....

Thank you LivinLife! Much appreciated. This Friday I should have my results. I keep trying to remember what the doctor said."Under 50% malignancy". "We want to make sure it's nothing". "not seen on Ultrasound" but my mind races of course. Keeping busy and trying to not think of worst case scenarios. Thank you again for welcoming me, and I haven't created a new thread. I think I'm going to wait till I have results. Will def post them either way. XO EM
