Hello,

I am taking a break from Tamoxifen for a couple months since I have a feeling it is causing my fissure issues. I stopped it cold turkey and now I am constipated, which is the LAST thing I need. : ( I have no clue if this is related or not. Nothing has changed in my diet and I am taking stool softeners/Miralax. Nothing seems to help and I am in agony now. : (

So, for those who came off Tamoxifen, did you slowly taper or did you come off cold-turkey? I am not sure what to do. My oncologist didn't support my decision, so I can't contact her (currently looking for a new one, which is taking some time).

Thank you!

Hi, I didn't have this problem. I just stopped tamoxifen prior to surgery. Have you changed your diet? Are you still staying hydrated? Colace takes water to work. Miralax will take a couple of days to work, but you have to continue to take it daily. Have you tried senna?

flashlight - I have not changed my diet at all. I am definitely hydrated (probably overhydrated with all the water I drink!). I am continuing the Miralax every day.

Things have improved a bit. I am still seeing a GI next week. I may get a colonoscopy just to rule out other issues (although with all my fissures and the skin down there, the thought honestly terrifies me). I want to make sure nothing else is wrong. I am so tired of doctors brushing me off! I am so tired of being in pain all the time. : ( How long does it take for Tamoxifen to leave the system? I guess I am just very impatient. I just want my skin in the area to improve.
